Can we show Peja some love finally ?

I feel like Simon from American Idol:

1. Peja is not now, nor never will be, considered an NBA "Superstar". He simply doesn't make the people around him better, indeed he has almost total reliance on the other four on the floor to make him look respectable.
2. If the franchise championship future requires Peja as a cornerstone, well it's going to be a long wait for a ring. Don't get me wrong, with the right players, we can win the 'ship. But never with Peja as the "cornerstone".

That being said, it was an OK game. The thing is that the guy has sucked so bad lately, even a moderate performance becomes joyful. As has been said time and time again, bring it every night and there may be some excitement.

I just don't think Peja can ever grab more than 6 rebs a game (although anything more than 2 would really help at this point). Everyone points out that he is 6 10" forward but he isn't athletic enough and time and time again you can see that even when he puts an effort into grabbing a board, he is simply gets outjumped and out muscled by the athletic players. With that said, he still shouldn't be getting out rebounded by Mike Bibby. Good offensive game from him today though.

^^^^ I agree, did he really have to play great ball the first 3/4 of the season, I mean we all know he can do that. Obviously, it would be great to be in a better playoff position but I would love to see him go off in the playoffs and shake off that "soft", "choker" label.

Yeah, Peja cannot be the cornerstone of this team. He lacks the killer instincts that other great players have(i.e. Duncan, Garnett etc.). If he improves his aggresiveness on the court then maybe we can start talking about peja leading our team to the championship.

OMG, I prolly should stop posting in this Peja love-fest. The guy "breaks out" with a finally decent game. So now, he can mail it in for 3/4 of the season and perform in the playoffs "as we all know he can?"Well, this observer hasn't seen that Peja can perform in the playoffs. Second, he isn't a superstar that has earned the right (that none of the greats ever took advantage of) to coast the season and then decide to turn it on in May/June.

After seven years, for goodness sake, accept Peja for what he is. An above average scorer, good to excellent shooter, poor defender, poor rebounder - all in all, an OK NBA player. Not great, not bad, not a leader by any stretch. Am I glad he is on the team?, sure. But I sure wouldn't hang the franchise future on him.

He isn't superstar,so wath.He is a good player,shooter,every team need one.
franchise future is on Bibby but Peja is also in that (Bibbys) team.He is not leader,so wath, let Bibby lead.
Poor defender  ?! Please dont, you forgot last playoff.

You Can Do It !!!

It's a start ..... good/great #'s offensively

Peja's defense has steadily improved over the years...at least when he is motivated to show us.

Peja had an excellent offensive game. He is an offensive player, so he gave us what we needed from him. I do not think he is (or ever will be) a superstar. He is too one dimensional for that label.

That is not a bad thing. If Peja hustles and shows that he is playing with real effort, his shots will fall. That is what I look for from him. To ask for more from Peja is just not realistic.

Ok Pedja scored well, and yes the other numbers are still too low, BUT the an was moving well without the ball, cut to the hoop several times, handled the ball more, I loved watching him drive behind screens and pop, in short he was in the mix and NOT standing on the perimeter waiting for the ball to come to him. Props to Pedja, but alsoprops to the coaching staff and the new guys beceause the team clearly had new plays that were designed to bing out the best in the guys on the floor, Pedja included and the team has clearly had some practice time.

poor defender? he's a pretty good defender, perhaps one of the best one-on-one defenders we have...

If Pedja finishes the rest of the season like last nite then we can talk
I totally agree... that's what I said in my post, It was one of these nights when he decided to show show up......against a bad defensive team at that. Put a good defender on Peja and he won't be very productive because of his inabaility to create shots and get to the foul line.

I think asking him to get five or six rebounds in 38-40 minutes is VERY reasonable.

I'm glad he had a good game, I hope he continues to play with energy.
