Better lucky than good.

On January 2002 Kings dismantled Jazz @ ARCO 113-80 to improve to 32-10 for the season. Despite missing Mateed due to the injury and shooting pathetic 65% from the line Kings finished the jazz off way before the 3rd quarter was over. Webber lead Kings with 24/4/3/bl, Pedja added 21/5/1, Bibby had 15/2/3, DC had 8/6/5. Bench got a lot of playing time and Bobby used it the best to contribute 18/7/2/2.

The Sacramento Kings don't give you much of a chance in Arco Arena. Chris Webber scored 24 points and Peja Stojakovic added 21 as the Kings cruised to their 17th straight home win, a 113-80 trouncing of the Utah Jazz.Coming off an overtime loss at Portland on Tuesday, the Kings returned to the NBA's toughest home court and made quick work of the Jazz, who played Wednesday and clearly did not have the legs to keep up.

"With this team, as good as they are, I'm not sure we could have competed against their second team," Utah coach Jerry Sloan said. "Their second group would have beat us by 20."

"I just think we've gotten used to beating everyone here," Kings center Vlade Divac said. "When we play here, we're supposed to win. That's just the mentality we have."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After the great comback win Kings improved to 16-23 for the season. Kings winner of the 2 out of the last 3 games Kings lost ground in the lottery race dropping from the 7th to the 9th position. On the other hand - Kings are only 3.5 games out of playoffs. Feels more like 35 games. Considering that Bucks are in town and that they too miss their best player - Kings might even luck out to a winning streak before the 4 road games to finish up this long month.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Both teams played hard my man! At least last night - anyways. Since neither of them is any good that is really all that You can ask for. Despite the fact that this win hurt us a bit in a big picture - it is always great to see that the team is still alive even if on a life support right before signing of the papers and pulling the plug. The players didn't give up despite playing horribly though 3/4 of the game and finally they were awarded with a little "luck." I am also sure that there is still some hope in the minds of players, management and some fans that they can still turn around the season - whatever that means in these wierd circumstances.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Booing is also a part of the game. It is an unpleasent part for the players but it is usually a consequence of sucking from the players. If You are a player and You don't want to be booed - just don't suck. It is that simple. Fans generally don't buy tickets and go to the games just to boo a team or players - at least not in this country anyways. When You make so much money and people spend a lot to watch You and You aren't bringing it - fns will let You know. That doesn't mean the they hate You. It means that they aren't satisfied whit what they are offered. As a player You can ignore it, You can get upset or insulted by it and You can hopefully take it personally and raise Your level proving everyone wrong. Once You do that - boos will go away. If You can't handle it - McDonalds is hiring.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
The "new" old ball seams to be affecting the shooting of some Kings players in general and Kevin Martin in particular. I am sure that it is much more complicated than that. The whole dynamics is just wierd. On one seide You have to adjust on a fly to a new "tool" instrumental to Your job while knowing that there was nothing wrong with the old one to begin with. On the other hand You have to deal with opponents defenses while beeing the only consistant contributor, wiith Your teammates who overestimate their offensive abilities, with defending great players being outmatched night in and night out and with a coach who clearly has no clue what he is doing. Good luck with that - Kevin.

And Muss again is just confusing the hell out of me to a point where I just shake my head and move on. KT wasn't playing much lately if any and then suddenly he found himself starting which he did before he was benched. With 39 games in the season we still don't have rotation. The concept of earning minutes is garbage too. What the hell does that mean ? Is there a guide pamplet on that so we can read up on it ? Did Mo Taylor earn to start those couple games ? Who comes up with all of htis and are the players really smart enough to figure it out ? Was Muss drinking again or did he stop ? Is there anyone in charge of Muss who know or understands how this work ? I just give up.

Last night was an example that if You let young kids play that good things can happen. Cisco helped turn the game around. You just have to let them play and allow them to make mistakes and hopefully learn from it. Yes, it will cause some losing but we are 16-23 and very familiar with that concept anyways. Yes, we will get frustrated and upset occasionally but in the end it just might end up being worth it. What we are currently doing - just isn't.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Last night game showed what asses a real PG playing both ways can be for a team. Jason Kidd recorded yet another triple double. He "survived" a microfracture surgery and is playing reall on a high level. Kings don't have a player like that and we sure could use it. Those kids that we have around would benifit from it a lot. We have Mike Bibby who is usually an okay player but he isn't a PG and he doesn't make anyone better except 3rd string opponent PGs having career games night after night. Jason Kidd is a very special player if You look from a neutral point of wiev.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
As expected it was anexciting but low quality game between 2 bad teams. Kings were giving the game to the Nets all night long but Nets were too proud (stupid) to take it. Nets played without Krstic, Jefferson and Carter only scored 8 pt or so but they still had the game won. 3rd quarter was the vintage Kings from this season. Then in the 4th Mike Bibby woke up and combined with Nets incompetence and lots of luck - Kings ended up winning it. Whether it was a good win or a bad win - I will let You decide it for Yourselves.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
AWARD TIME

as expected Moore won the TDM award wih a career high 22 pts while being 8-8 from the field. Couple of my fantasy teams are very grateful.

LW-VC award went to Vine Carter who couldn't have picked the best/worst time to suck.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Bucks are next and hey aren't doing that well since Redd got hurt. They are horrible on the road. They have lost 8/9 mlast games and they play Clippers the night before playing us. You put all of this together and You ask Yourself - can there be anything else possible except a blowout win by the Kings. Then You add the theory of big numbers and Muss coaching (dis)abilities - and the Your ealize that You have absolutely no clue what would happen in the 1st, 2nd and 4th quarter.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Mike - maybe if Yoyu played more that a quarter per game fans wouldn't boo. Have fun with Earl
Ron - not bad
Kevin - hand in there kid
SAR - get well soon
Brad - almost 10/10/5. Keep it up
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Cisco -very nice - finally
rest - mateen
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Muss - shouldn't You also earn minutes as a coach too ?
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Bucks have some talent but missing Redd, Williams, Simmons and Villanueva might be too much to handle. Bogut will pull Moore and win the TDM. Ruben patterson will make that race close. LW-VC award will go to one of their starters maybe Bell. Kings will go on a winning streak.

Piksi, like many on this board, I like your pre-game posts. Informative and entertaining. I hope that you would keep on doing this. Good fan-posting minutes, if you will.

I hear ya with Muss' game--or lack of game. I'm scratching my head, too. Perhaps the players are doing the same thing? Perhaps uncertainty in the starting/bench playing rotations is unsettling for the players?

But a coaches' dilemma is a real one when a starter plays poorly in the start of a game--pull or not to pull? Poor play hurts the team, but being yanked early may hurt the starters more, perhaps. Yet, there is enough talent on the team to create a policy of subbing in the bench for starters who may start out shooting poorly or playing poorly (defense, rebounding, positioning, etc--anything other than shooting) and having the bench player play the rest of the first half of the game, then allowing the starter to start the third quarter with a chance to get out to a better start.

Would that be a good strategy? This may give more incentive to the starter to play damn good right off the bat with better, smarter shot selection, yet it may allow the starter to give way to a possibly better-performing bench player to give the whole team a lift. I've too many cases of starters starting out poorly, yet staying on the floor throughout the game this season. Something here must change, imo. The starter may rest well knowing that the dude would have another chance to get off to a better start in the start of the third quarter. To me, this might be a better strategy that may encourage better play from the starters with the allowance of significant contributions of bench players and to allow significant minutes for both starters and bench players. A win-win coaching strategy, I think.

"Mateen"? I cannot find that word in any online dictionary...wtf does that word mean?

I'm afraid to see what Bogut is gonna do. He's been playing out of his MIND as of late. 24 rebounds or something.

He could get 50 vs. our front line. lol

LOL!

Good intro. Grant said on Sportsline that there is no absolutely no excuse for the Kings to lose to the Bucks. Wow...I hadn't realized we need an excuse to lose. :p ;)

we don't need an excuse or a reason or an opponent or even a game. We are perfectly capable of losing on our day off

Looks like the game threads have become non-existent. Not that this is a great game or anything but it is refreshing to see the Kings hit their shots. Even if it is against the Bucks...
