I don't know if I'm ever going to watch sportscenter again. Did any of you see what the highlights were that they showed of the Kings-Lakers game last night? EVERY SINGLE SHOT was of Kobe making a shot. They showed it like was on fire and no one was defending him. The never once showed the defense Artest was locking down on him durin the game....also the only Kings highlight i saw from it was Artest knocking down that wide open three to seal the game.

Completely sad, can they EVER give us any credit?

Odd thing is, there game summary gave us and Ron a lot of credit. Of course, that was probably an AP article.

I thought they're all about sweet plays, they should of showed Bibby's drop-off pass to KT for the one-handed slam.

I do think we don't get enough credit, but SporsCenter very rarely actually shows defense on their highlights. They only show offense.

yeah, SportsCenter alone is responsible for dunks becoming the shot of choice or shots from superstars even when they lose. That leads to too many kids and decent ballplayers thinking that dunks and long range shots are all there is to get to the pros. Sad.

On ESPNEWS, the highlight package showed Kobe's buzzer beater at the end of the third period, the one that was waved off, and the announcer said that the shot was good and brought the Lakers within three.

espn loves kobe. last sunday (selection show sunday) was a huge day for sports with all the college tournament championships, the world baseball classic, and the bonds drama. the first thing shown on that sunday sportscenter were the kobe highlights. it's really pathetic how much coverage they give him. so what if he scores 81 points, his team is only 1 game over .500 and barely in the playoffs. that's not very jordan like if you ask me.

but as far as last night goes. i did see that they showed artest's block on kobe.

They said the same thing on CNN this morning,,,And I'm saying JACKASSES watch the freakin game, but oh' well life with the media.

Guys...come on!! Really!! We are better than this. I mean who cares! Look at where all of the positive press got us between 2002-2005. So I say, let the ESPN's and CNN's of this world talk about other players and teams- then we can sneak in out of nowhere. Just my humble opinion.

Actually I just saw the ESPN News clip online.

It was fair recap..maybe they changed it it but they show two Kobe drives, which is contrasted with two Artest scores along with one of Bibby's threes...

..so yea they show the Kings three times and the Kobes twice.. =/

Yup. Nothing personal against us, ESPN is a Kobe-phile.

One of the two or three remaining, I guess.

I saw that too, and it really ticked me off!!!

agreed

ESPN have been saying nice things about us lately but those highlights made me mad. That was all of the game I got to see and if I didn't know better I would swear we had lost.

exactly, with all the shots they showed kobe knocking down it looked like they won and he had 50...it was insane

I completely agree. I'm an ESPN addict b/c it's all sports, but they play to the big markets, big-time. In the last six years, there has been one World Series win b/w Boston and NYY. That's one season out of 12 between the two of them (8.30 winning %). Contrast that to the coverage they get--a bit more than 8 percent! Roger Clemens and Barry Bonds get more preseason coverage than half of the teams throughout the year. Just this last season, the Dolphins beat the Patriots, and they showed Doug Flutie's field goal so many times you'd think that New England won in a landslide. It's the exact same way with Kobe and the Lakers--if you had the TV on mute and just watched the highlights, it would look like the Lakers mopped the court with the Kings last night.

Point is, the coverage goes to the big market teams and players, regardless of the win/lose results.

Ooooh, I saw that too and was SO MAD! Yelling at the TV like those idiots could actually hear me. LOL

I don't feel like they were giving credit where credit was due, IMHO.

Wow, yeah. I guess then we could review just about every LA game and make calculations as to how many points should be revoked for Kobe's uncalled travelling violations. He didn't get the breaks last night. Tough shiz, I say.

Sorry, I must not have stated the whole thought. What I meant was that it didn't seem like ESPN gave the Kings the credit they deserved in winning this game. They are all too focused on Kobe...nevermind the fact that every one of the Kings who set foot on that court last night played an excellent game.

Better?:p

Exactly.

I'd like to say "Yeah, who cares about the pub, let's just do our thing and win no matter what anyone thinks." But d@mmit, I just want to see my team get props on TV, haha

I got it.

NBA Coast to Coast wasn't any better. Much made about Kobe(Ooh let's check out Kobe(nevermind mentioning the Kings). At the end Matt Winer goes "you notice how very quietly Mike had 29 points". Greg Anthony says " there was nothing quiet about it, we're just not showing any of his highlights" and smiles about it.

If it's not any player of "superstar" status or a season-high or just getting dunked on, ESPN has no real use of the Sacramento Kings

one of the best highlights for me was when K-Mart glued Odom to the floor with the pass fake then joked it on his head.

I think he was sticking up for Mike there. BTW, that was on Fastbreak.

Artest/Kings was discussed in topics on 1st/10, Jim Rome Is Burning, Around the Horn (including 2nd half MVP talk), Pardon The Interruption, SportsCenter today. All positive except for a few guys on ATH (not bashing or anything though), but that's personal takes/opinions of sportswriters for newspapers.

I thought it was condescending like "We're more concerned with talking about Kobe vs. Ron". Matt tried to justify saying but trailed off.
