Bring Vlade back?

Chopsticks at dawn??

Dawn? Are you out of your mind?

Not a minute before 9 a.m. and then only after a Vente White Chocolate Latte.

Nice.

Hmmm..... ;)

Uh oh. It has been brought to my attention, Ms. G3, that we (meaning I but including you so I won't feel quite so much in error) may have been precipitous in our arrangement. According to the Dueling Protocol (Russia in the 19th century), as outlined at http://mothboard.com/topic.php?board=dueling&topic=594, I might have to back up a bit:

A person would never issue a challenge in public except by posting. A letter from the offended party would be delivered by his/her second to the other individual. There would be a demand for an immediate apology for the insult or a request that he/she name his/her second so that they might make arrangements for the duel. The slap in the face with a glove is Hollywood theatrics. Any person who would challenge another to a duel at a public function was trying to make himself/herself out to be more than he/she was. A duel was to be a private affair not for other peoples entertainment. In that period of history, the vast majority of the public might conclude that two people would duel but they found out after the fact.

It appears we cannot take this too lightly or we run the risk of insulting any 19th Century Russians who might be reading this.

Therefore, it appears we need to secure seconds.

Hmmmmmmm...

Back on topic...
People keep talking about Vlade coming back in role somewhere within the kings organization and then helping out Peja, etc. Have people considered that maybe he won't come here? I read earlier in several places that Vlade would accept a job within the Lakers organization rather than come back to Sactown. He came up with the Lakers and had a lot of good years there, and in a lot of ways LA may be a more ideal choice for him. The other part of that possibility is that he may lure Peja down after this year or next.

But it would be very cool if he retired and came back to the Kings.

A more general question: how much is left on Peja's contract? I thought it was two years but that he had an opt-out after this year.

Even better maybe Vlade can convince the Lakers to take Pedja off of the Kings hands, maybe even throw a ballpalyer into the deal.

I swear I heard that Peja or the team has an opt out after this season, and that Peja could just walk away as a free agent after this year. And as bad as Peja is playing right now, I think I would be sick to see Vlade and Peja with the Lakers.

"Back on topic" and you try and switch it to Peja???

...

As far as what you've read about Vlade choosing one place or another, Vlade has said that he'd return here to our media AND he's indicated he'd like to retire in LA to the LA press - or at least that's what has been reported. Vlade has always known just the right thing to say to the media at the right time. ;)

Peja going to LA would be like Webber going to Philly. Unless they suddenly start playing the game with two basketballs at once, it wouldn't work.

Now back to the important stuff...

Celt? Could I impose upon you to be my second and deliver the official letter of duel demand?

Peja has a player option at the end of next year. But it will never get to that point. He'll either get a nice contract from us or Petrie will trade him.

Pretending salaries matched, would you be in favor of Peja for Butler and LA's 14th pick? Just curious, not that it would happen.

I am flattered, but asking a man commited to non-violence (off the court) to be your second may not be the wisest move, before i agree I'll have to read up and see what the Mahatma would do.

Gargamel - Petrie would not trade Peja to a Western conference team. If he goes, he's going east and most likely in a package with one of those really big contracts we just got.

:D

G3 is buying the White Chocolate Lattes before the duel...

:D

why would anyonw want to waste a roster spot on Vlade. I mean I like the guy, and all that he WAS - but he isn't that anymore. Besides, we already have a 7 ft over the hill, out of shape player on the roster.... do we need another?

P.S. Sorry GoGo, couldn't come up with an appropriate 2nd for you off of top of my head. ;)

I didn't read the last couple pages of this thread, why is Christy Alley flying over Brick?

At this stage sure. I am not convinced that Pedja has any real ablity fit inot an offnese in which he is NOT spoon fed shots as a deadly second option to a bigger gun. LA mingt do it, Vlade might make it happent for him, if so a trade IN confrence/divison might not be too smart... better to send him off to the wilds of Toronto or exile him to Florida, but if the only workable deal were Butler and a pick thats better than what we have been getting from him. Butler would probaly thrive in a motion offense although his size might be problem.

I hadn;t even noticed Gargamel's proposal -- err Garg, the answer is "no". :)

Didn't we go through this at the AS break with the Lakers ttrying to peddle Butler around for better players? Oddly not tempting. ;)

Admittedly I can think of several trades that are preferable for the Kings. Truth be told the best palce FOR Pedja probalby is LA which might make it the WORST option for the Kings. But my original observation about Vlade urging the trade was mostly just light humor based on the premis that Pedja seems intent on devaluing his tradaablity on a regular basis these days.

I was just gauging Celt's feelings on Peja. I didn't think he'd say yes, really. You guys think Peja's defense is weak, try Butler's on for size. Yikes.

Mitch'll peddle him around again this summer. The alternative is making him 6th man, signing Griffin for the MLE, drafting Felton, Jack, Ukic, or D. Williams with the lotto pick and someone like Ronny Turiaf or Danny Granger with the 31st pick (or maybe Nate Robinson as a waterbug). In other words...we Laker fans are screwed. Mitch'll foul that up somehow by using the MLE on Dale Davis and drafting 2 more SFs. I'm still taking memberships into the "Mitch Is An Assclown Brigade Club Band".
