Bring back Webber

Hanks

Prospect
I think Webber can replace the role of Miller now(indeed,Webber is better than Miller right now), Williamson can replace the role of KT; Webber's contract will be over after next season, so is Artest's; so we can have a big salary space(30M) after 2 years. If Kings would have money at 2008,we could resign Artest(or not) and Martin(must be,he will be a restricted FA) and other FA.Webber?retire or MLE.

Kings is not a title contender now, it's not different between playoff to 2nd round and not in playoff for me.

Just wait untill 2008,we would have salary space and we could do lots of decisions.

KT Miller Potapenko for Webber

2006 lineup
C-Webber Taylor
PF-SAR Williamson
SF-Artest Garcia
SG-Martin JS
PG-Bibby Price

No not Miller, Pot, KT for Webber. I love Webber and wish he was still here even on 1 leg because he plays within his ability/beyond and does what a team needs to win. He still have great talent, but less athletism then before the injury obviously.

I think that with Miller, Webber, Artest, KMart, Bibby....Salmons, Cisco, maybe Corliss, SAR off the bench we'd be quite the team and would go farther than the 1st round and maybe win it all. Would we have gotten Artest and SAR without losing Webber...probably not. I'm very disappointed with the K9, Corliss, Skinner for Webber, Barnes, big scrub guy we had briefly. Right now K9 is keeping us from the title, I do like what he does with his small stature, but the guy is 6' 7" he is quick and athletic, but what do you expect when he matches up against pretty much any other PF, he will be smaller. As a team you need to create mismatches in your favor and with K9 we have a mismatch in the opponents favor on any given game. We do have good advantages with Artest and KMart with their size, but K9 and the slow Miller are hurting us in the interior and don't complement each other, Miller and CWebb while slow did work for us.

I would definately take back Webber, but on a much more realistic salary like around $8-10M or so. He is not worth anywhere close to the $20M he makes now. I'm sure he wouldn't have a problem getting out of Philly and we all love him here in Sacto. It honestly hurt him to leave Sac and I wish he did play a few more years here and retire in Kings purple. ;)

if there were a third team and we didnt lose miller id do it in a heart beat...

trading...
reef
thomas
pot
corliss

for webber and a back up pf/c... id do it so quick... but for miller? hell no... maybe if we could get a starting center with webber, even a crappy one. but there is no way in hell that we should start webber at center... or even as a back up option... no way in hell...

Well if webber gets released,we could sign him for cheap. Since webber does not have any history with the coaching staff, it would probably be an easier transition to lessening his role so that he plays the role Valde played towards the end of his carreer..as mentor and passer...i think it'd be great. he belongs here. his passing skills and size are something that would great to have if he's released.

It doesn't stop us from playing Corliss at Center. :p

Webber is not a Center, but could be a backup if needed just as SAR is doing now.

I'd love to keep SAR as a backup 4/5 and have CWebb be our starting 4 again and Miller our 5 as he is now. We still need another big body off the bench other than Taylor and/or Potapenko, but that can be worked out. Hopefully when we shed our expiring contracts and maybe also K9, we can get a lower salaried Webber to retire here in Sacto.

Uh, where is Webber right now?

On the bench. With another injury.

Wasn't that the reason we traded him to begin with?

^Agree.. we have enough injuries happening already, Webber, I just don't think he ever will be constant or healthy 100%... just no..

First of all, I think Webb's injury is more to his pride than anything. And, he played more last season than probably any of the Kings players.

I think there's a number of reasons we traded him, including him never returning to pre-injury shape, but if we traded him because he was missing games/practices we missed that bet, because he played most games last year with 35+ minutes/game.

OK, so for $20 million he can't swallow a little pride and do what's best for the team?

Sorry, I love what Webber was and what he brought to the team before he was injured. I just don't think that bringing him back now would accomplish much....

Webber has long been one of my favorite NBA players. I literally cried when he was traded. When someone asks me about bringing him back I say, "No, you can't ever go back. You gotta just keep moving forward."

It was a sad day that's for sure, not only what he brought on the court, off the court to his team in the locker room/hotel/etc, but also what he meant to the Kings organization and to the fans. He was a class act and losing him and Vlade have done more to lose the identity of the Kings at the time, also Christie was a guy we hated losing, but both him and Vlade hardly played at all after we traded/let them walk. GP sure has a knack of getting some value for a guy whos wheels are about to fall off. With Webber, not as much, but he isn't the same player, even so, I wish we never traded him. Corliss at least is finding an identity on this team again rather than just being a cheerleader on the bench as with Adelman last year.

I'm not saying I agree with it, or that he's justified in doing it, I'm just stating it in response to your comment about him being "injured again." If he was a starter on the Kings (or Philly for that matter) and playing 35+ minutes a game, I think he'd be playing.

I love Webb & everything he brought to the team every time he put on a Kings uniform. I love his passion for the game & he is my all time favorite NBA player. But, I don't see him coming back here, and I don't even know if I'd want him to at this point for a number of reasons. Don't get me wrong, I wish he'd never been traded, and especially not for what we got in return. But, at this point bringing him back wouldn't accomplish much.

I'd love to have Webber back. Webber at 33 is still >>> KT + Corliss.

Webber at 32 was better than KT + Corliss, but I don't know if Webber at 33 is better than KT + Corliss. He may still get it together this year, but he looked horrible in the early going and now he's injured.

You should make that "injured". ;)

10. PHILLY

Most interesting subplot: An unhappy Chris Webber getting benched in crunch time for two straight weeks and going public with his unhappiness, followed by the Sixers basically telling him, "Look, we can't trade you, you make $20 million a year and you run with a limp, even Isiah won't return our calls for God's sake," followed by C-Webb coming down with a mystery injury and disappearing into thin air. And if that's not enough, Shavlik Randolph took his job and even happens to be playing pretty well. Did you ever think in a kajillion years that C-Webb, one of the 10 greatest power forwards of all time, would lose his job to Shavlik Freaking Randolph? Meanwhile, Juwan Howard is a contract albatross in Houston, Jalen Rose can't get any minutes in Phoenix, and I think Jimmy King made me an Animal-style burger at In-N-Out last night. So much for the Fab Five.

Yeah, Philly is a mess right now. Not sure that Mo Cheeks has a good strategy going... Philly is 1-9 when Webb doesn't play the 4th quarter. I'm glad he hasn't been in there in the 4th to drag the team down.

????

Why would you think that Chris Webber would even entertain the notion of returning to the Kings, let alone for the MLE?

When the time comes, and I think it will be sooner rather than later, Webber will walk away. He's not going to stick around and become a parody of himself. At least, I hope not.

:(

Webber+Phi 07 1st round pick for Kenny Thomas+Williamson+Potapenko

The contract of Webber expires at the same time than the contracts of Artest and Kevin Martin, so we could give them extensions without problems with the salary cap, and the 1st round pick of Phi this year probably is going to be high.
