Brenden Haywood

Not the same. You can't seriously believe that Brendan Haywood could bring everything to the Kings that we got with Vlade, can you? He set the tone and molded our franchise into what it was to become. Haywood can block shots and play some defense. He is nothing even remotely close to being in the same chapter as Vlade, let alone on the same page...

Hrm. Apparently I still haven't completely gotten over Divac's departure. :p

No! I wasn't doing a comparison of skills, but simply pointing out that Vlade was 30 years old at the time. Haywood is the same age. Right now the Kings need a defensive big. Haywood is a defensive Big. Considering that we have the sum total of two legitimate big men, I'm not sure how much time Haywood would take away from anybody. Of course if everyone is just fine with Kenny Thomas playing center, then there isn't a problem.

By the way, this isn't all directed at you. Just the first part. :)

If Vlade had been brought here merely because of his defensive skills, I might agree with you. He wasn't, though. He was brought here because Petrie was well aware that bringing Vlade Divac into the mix would bring wisdom, humor, maturity, guidance and a whole lot more.

If Vlade wasn't much more than mere statistics - impressive as those stats are - I seriously doubt if Petrie would have made him the glue around which THE TEAM would be built.

Haywood wouldn't make us that much better and I don't see him as a mentor, another role Divac was able to fill admirably. I'd rather set my sights a little higher...

Well, I think you missed my point entirely. But, Oh well. Time for a cervesa.:)

Yeah, I mean look at how many more wins we'd have if we got a defensive stop here or there. If we allowed 2 less points per game. If we could get crucial rebounds and post D without having to play Kenny at C. We'd be .500 by now atleast. IMO we'd be good enough to make the playoffs as an 8th seed or something, and that'd be good experience for the young guys.
