Brandan Wright

Vlade4GM

All-Star
Played pretty well against duke (19 points 9 rebounds). i really like this kid, very patient and fundamental offensively and he's crazy long. looks a lot like duncan/bosh on the offensive end and defensively he's got all the tools to be a very good shot blocker and rebounder, he could stand to be a little more aggressive though. i would love for the kings to get a shot at him.

He reminds me of Amare more than Duncan. Wright is great on the fast break thanks to his athleticism. His wingspan is like 7'4''. I really want to see us find a way to draft Brandan Wright. His mid range J is improving, he's a good defender and a great shotblocker. He's the perfect fit for this team.

so, in addition to the ranks of oden, durant, and noah, we have a timare bosh in this draft?

TAAAAANK!

Take Noah out of that group. He's a glorified sideshow Bob (Anderson Varejao). He's not a franchise player, he's a role player at best and not something you should get with the first few picks.

Oden, Durant, and Wright are on another level in comparison to the rest of this year's draft class. If you get a top 3 pick this year, you could be set for years.

Also as for Wright, I like the Bosh comparison a lot more (who's great on fast breaks as well). Their games are very similar and once he develops a jumper they'll be nearly identical. Amare has more power and is just flat out bigger than Wright. And Wright will grow some but he'll always have a lean body like Bosh.

noah isn't that bad, he's definitely not a high ceiling guy and any team with a brain should pick wright over him, but he can easily be a third best player on a good team. i think the real question is either horford or noah, i'd pick horford but i can understand why people would pick noah.

amare relies on a lot of athleticism and power for his offensive game, wright is more like duncan and bosh's fundamental game around the basket and with perimeter skills.

Actually I've seen Wright compared to a slightly shorter Garnett too. Maybe that's the best comparison? I don't like comparing him to Duncan because Wright has a lot of athleticism and gets out on the break, Duncan doesn't. Bosh is a good comparison too though.

The KG comparison seems misleading to me though because Wright doesn't have any kind of outside shot as yet. They're similar in body type -- athletic big men with a lot of reach -- but their play styles are different. He's actually closer to Amare than KG in terms of play style -- just without the strength Amare has. Bosh seems like the best comparison to me, but it'll take a lot of development before he reaches the level Bosh is at right now. He's similar to the player Bosh was when he was drafted, a skinny complementary post player with good athleticism and potential. He's got more reach than Bosh so he could be a more effective shotblocker, but he's also a little less advanced offensively (from what I've seen). Very reliable shot in close, but not a lot of developed post moves and no range outside of say 10 feet. He's by no means the sure thing that Durant and Oden are, but it would be correct I think to say that he has more potential than anyone else in the draft other than those two.

i'm only really comparing his offensive fundamentals to duncan. as an overall player he's a lot like bosh. as far as garnett, i guess he's in a similar mold just as bosh kinda is but i don't think he'll ever be that good.

Bosh is way more skilled offensively than Wright at the same age. Wright is not a franchise player yet. He is not as skilled as Bosh, not as tall as KG, not as big as Duncan and not as strong as Amare. IMO, Wright has a lot of potential but he should stay another year to develop his game.

Also, Oden has dropped hint he is not coming out. And it looks like Spencer Hawkes and Darrell Arthur are also staying. This drafting is going to get much thinner come draft day, imo.

well i've said in another thread that i think he's about a year behind bosh at that age, but i still think he's going to be headed in that same direction.
