BOS trade for Bibby?

BOS GETS:
PG Mike Bibby
PF Shareef Abdur-Rahim
PG Jason Hart

SAC GETS:
C Theo Ratliff
PF Brian Scalabrine
PG Sebastian Telfair
C Kendrick Perkins

Just an idea I thought about. Maybe, and most likely is, a long shot, but an idea nonetheless. This would give us a young, cheap, filler PG with some (albeit interesting and remote) upside, a young shotblocking C, a tough role-playing PF, and a tremendous amount of cap money off the books in a year.

Boston gets a PG that can finally score from the perimeter, and command the tempo of the offense, a scoring PF that can complement the banging Jefferson in the starting lineup, and a malcontent PG with a overpriced contract that will come off the books in this summer.

BOSTON:
C- Jefferson/Olowokandi
PF- Abdur-Rahim/Powe
SF- Szczerbiak/West/Gomes
PG- Bibby/Hart/Rondo
SG- Pierce/Green/Allen

SACRAMENTO:
C- Miller/Ratliff/Perkins/Potapenko
PF- Thomas/Scalabrine/Taylor
SF- Artest/Williamson/Garcia
PG- Telfair/Douby/Price
SG- Martin/Salmons

This would obviously set up well for moving Artest in a package (hopefully) with Thomas, and/or moving additonal contracts around for bigger acquisitions down the road and rebuilding over time.

Boston is in a funny situation with youth + Pierce (superstar, long term deal).

If their pick is top 3 next year:

Ratcliff (expires next year)
Telfair
1st rounder
change

for

Bibby
Artest

Bibby/Pierce/Artest would be an incredible back court and give us another shot at a high pick this year. Bibby might be gone anyway this year and Artest won't stick around after next year regardless. Could be worth the gamble

That's just terrible. Bibby to Boston is not a bad iudea, or wasn;t before Pierce got hurt and they went into hardcore tank mode. But throwing in SAR and getting back utter junk = no good at all. Telfair is largely a bust, Perkins just a roleplayer, Scalabrine is garbage, Ratliff is just the contract matcher, out all year, may retire, doesn't expire until next year.

If you take out Reef, make it West, Perjins and Ratliff then maybe I am listening. Maybe. What I really wnat is a pick. But this would be a total skunking.

i think telfair is a bust too, but perhaps to get them to give up a pick or something we have to take him. i think west is probably more realistic than their pick, but i don't think they're going to give either one of them up easily. i would sitll think they would be interested though, maybe cleveland and houston too.

Follow-up deal...

NYK GET:
SF Ron Artest
SF Francisco Garcia
PF Kenny Thomas

SAC GETS:
PF Jared Jeffries
SF David Lee
PF Malik Rose

FULL LINE-UP:

C- Miller/Perkins/Ratliff/Potapenko
PF- Jeffries/Rose/Scalabrine/Taylor/Williams
SF- Lee/Williamson
PG- Telfair/Douby/Price
SG- Martin/Salmons
SAC Pick
BOS Pick

Lots of expiring money still, two nice picks, nice young pieces to either deal or build around...

I WANT SOMEONE'S FIRST ROUND DRAFT PICK. I want the kings to be in the lottery this year either with someone else's pick or our own. We need to catch lighting in the bottle with a stud, superstar to build around. The only way that happens is to be a player in the draft. Especially this draft which will consist of all of last year's high school lottery picks that are one year older.

According to http://nbadraft.net/ The Top nine picks consist of players 6-10 or bigger. Names such as Odom, Durrant, Noah, Hortford, and a 7-0 Chinese PF with skills to put the ball on the floor.

What if Bibby and Artest help Boston and NY to playoff runs?

Then we'd be giving up Bibby and Artest for late lottery picks at best. Which would be horrible.

Of all the realistic picks we might end up with at this rate, the ones I am highest on are Brandan Wright and Al Horford. Nice aggressive PFs that could blend well with the younger players on the team and form a nice core. I want Boston's pick. Wright is who I'd take. But if we settle for something less, I'd take Horford.

I'd be stoked to have any of these five guys in order. Hopefully we tank or get lucky in the lottery.

1. Durant- him and Martin would be awesome on the wings
2. Oden
3. Noah
4. B. Wright
5. Horford

no one is going to give up an unprotected pick, if we're going to pick high it's going to have to be with our own. i hope we get a mid 1st round pick to go along with our (hopefully) high lottery pick.

here are some of my comparisons of the top big guys in the draft if anyone is interested.

oden- patrick ewing
durant- mcgrady offensively, garnett defensively
wright- amare stoudemire
horford- poor man's elton brand
hawes- rich man's vlade divac
jianlian- poor man's pau gasol

No lottery bound team is going to give their pick without some serious lottery protection for any of our guys. The only picks we can hope for in this draft are middle to late first rounders. Our own of course, can be very high.
