thats incredible. DMC and Isaiah are in some pretty good freakin company there. arguably the top 3 players in the NBA in LeBron, KD, PG

Thing is it's not about C"s anymore it's about all the PF's,SF's and C's but I agree if he maintains this he should be in there imo if we can just get a respectable record as well that would booast him a lot considering he took a below average team to a solid record.

As far as the coaches voting players in, is there a certain number of forwards/guards they must choose or is it simply the 6-8 most deserving players?

Alas, the problem is that last year the league decided that it would be fashionable and quit calling Cs Cs, and instead lump all the SFs, PFs, and Cs together into "frontcourt players".

Problem #2 almost ALL the top Cs/PFs in the league are in the Western Conference.

-- one difficulty that may be resolving is this: somebody above raised the possibility of a 2nd SF being taken just to have an extra one. But as it stands right now that seems quie unlikely. The 2nd highest scoring SF is Gordon Hayward, who is shooting .398 for a team with 1 win. He's out. The third highest scoring is Chuck Parsons at 16.6ppg, but with Harden and Dwight both going its very hard to see Houston getting a third All Star. They aren't that dominant. Then you have Batum at 13.4ppg (see Parsons), and Iggy who is down to 12.9ppg and just popped a hammy for a Warriors team which is barely above .500 now with the injuries, so they won't demand a 2nd All Star today. About the only real threat on that front might still be Golden State, if they get back to major winning ways and voters want to add Klay Thompson and call him a SF as their second player, and then still take 5 other guards as well (Harden, Curry, Westbrook, even Monta, you hope Kobe doesn't get voted in, Lillard could get tapped as a 2nd for Portland if they were somehow to keep it up etc. etc.

-- on the other hand, Dirk doesn't do much of anything but score anymore, but just his name alone arriving on the list, for a team winning, represents a threat. 7 frontcourt peeps will go. If Dirk were to qualify on name rec alone, that's 8 people for 7 spots, and Cuz a prime candidate to be the guy left out.

IMO it's all going to come down to our record. If we can at least put together a small winning streak of say 5 games then people will take notice and that might just be enough to get Cousins in, regardless of our actual record when the time comes. If we've got a terrible record and are just picking up wins here and there then the impression will still be "Kings are young, talented, but not a good team. Cousins good numbers on a bad team, has all the talent in the world, needs to mature, blablabla", and the nod will go to someone else who's helping their team earn wins.

I thought the Clippers game yesterday was a very good one for Cousins, because the Clippers had no answer for him, he didn't seem to have that many touches and yet ended up with 25 points. He very quietly racked up his first 15 points or so, which is impressive when you consider that the Clippers shouldn't have been paying much attention to anyone else on our team.

Casual fans just look at averages without minutes/game. And there are a lot of casual fans voting for the starters of the All-Star game.

Casual fans vote for names they recognize. They don't necessarily give a rat's patoot about any stats.

Cousins has zero chance of being voted in over Durrant/Griffin/Howard regardless of who's playing better, hopefully the fact that coaches pick can even help him since they know they have to game plan for him and they know they tell there players when playing us to try upset him and only him. Coaches realise how important he is and might show him respect.

The best non-Durant SFs are either Hayward, shooting sub .400 on the worst team in the West, or the third best players for their teams, and no third best player is going to beat out all the frontcourt monsters in the West. So about 1/3 of the way to the All Star Game ( and closer to 40% until decisions are made):
