Bonzi's Agent Say Sign-And-Trade Options Will Be Discussed

Trade Exceptions

there is a couple of ways that a sign and trade could happen...

1) if the kings can find a trade partner with a trade exception (i.e. indiana)... for example, if the harrington trade falls through, indiana will still have a large trade exception from the peja deal.... meaning they could take back more salary than they give up... if the kings could get someone like David Harrison and the Peja trade exception, the kings could get a young big and not have to take back as much salary...

2) if they could package KT's contract with a bonzi S&T for a quality young big man (i.e. boozer, dalembert, wilcox)... GP may be willing to go over the luxury tax if they can get rid of KT's contract and land a quality bigman

Who do you see trading a quality big man for Bonzi and KT? Honestly...

There are some bigs out that that would help that are available i.e. Dalembert, Wilcox, Magloire, Etan Thomas, Boozer, maybe even Dampier. I could Dallas entertaining the idea and maybe Washington or Milwaukee, but that's about it from those listed above.

I don't see us doing a sign-and-trade with Dallas, so they're out.

Bottom line, if wishes were horses, etc.

As I said before, I suspect the prevailing opinion is that the S.K. Bonzi Wells left port, shortly thereafter hit a reef, and was sunk with all hands. There are no plans on the horizon to attempt to raise the wreckage from the murky depths, IMHO.

Some dude on the ESPN message board thinks we are going to get KG because his "friend" told him. This friend is supposed to have "connections". apparently he knew about the trade for Artest before it happened. IMO, The chances of this happening are even less than of Bonzi resigning.

^ well. I think getting KG is most preferable to Maloofs, if they want to sign and trade and pay the luxyury tax.

But... probablity? Well... :)

Sounds a bit interesting :).

Well, suppose you could do a S&T Bonzi plus Artest and Thomas for Garnett...

That would make Petrie a true freak genius.. taking two of the most troubled souls in the NBA, rehabilitating their reps a bit and showcasing their talent... and then - BLAM, the impossible deal to get KG is reality.

I would say "in Petrie we trust" in every post for a year if he pulled off something like that. If finally one of his flexible parts actually contributed some real value.

I know everyone here loves Artest and so do I, but there is still that "ticking time bomb" element - and he puts us in a position -right now- where we can offer genuine value for KG - something the Pups could live with.

Obviously the probability of this trade is almost nil, but we wouldn't have to pay the luxury tax if it happened. Since the salaries for the trade would have to be within 15%, we would have to include other players. Even if the Wolves gave us some bad contracts back and pushed the salary they were giving us to $30 million, 15% of that is just over $4 million and we are $5 million below the luxury tax threshold.

Myself, I don't think there's the "ticking time bomb" stuff anymore. I've been quite solidly convinced that Artest is a different guy now (from the last year and a half), on and off the court. I'd really hate to see Artest go. But if we got Hassell back with KG that'd be a great bonus.

Yeah, the only way I see Bonzi being S&Ted is if some team blows Petrie away with an offer. If a great deal comes along that would put us over the luxury tax threshold, than even if the Maloofs did not want to pay the LT, Petrie could pretty easily trade an expiring contract and a second round pick to a team with cap space. It would be a free second round pick for a team that wanted cap space next summer to take on Corliss or Potapenko for nothing.

well, he still mutters bizarre things, like about the Kings needing a nicotine patch for winning, and he still seems to believe that we almost won the championship last year...etc

benign so far.

I hope you're right. Me... I won't be astonished at anything he does. But I love his passion and ability!

Ron saying bizarre or unique things doesn't mean he's a ticking time bomb. That nicotine patch saying? That's just Ron being Ron - he's always going to say weird/funny/what the heck? things, and that's the type of saying it was. From what I remember around the 'net after he said that, and in the media, they found it to be one of the aforementioned descriptions.

But I don't believe I've heard or read of something he said in a bad/insane/scary/harsh way.

It would have to be the offer of the century, IMHO. Petrie made it pretty clear - especially for Petrie - that negotiations are over. The Kings have moved on. William Phillips is the only one doing any talking right now. And he's got some real talking to do. Unless he can convince some other team to court Petrie with candy, flowers, a shotblocking big man who can also rebound, etc. I don't think there's any chance of him even having Petrie return his calls.

I'll say it agian it is now up to Phillips to go fetch a deal that Petrie and the Maloofs just can't say no to. Doubt he can do it but it's food off his plate if he can't beceause Bonzi will have to sign for the MLE at best and might even have to play a year at the LLE just avoid playing two handed poker with Spreewell most of the season.

One would have to assume that if the Bulls couldn't land KG with one of their many young assets earlier in the summer... then we have no chance. Sorry.

But we beat Toronto and Phoenix to get the amazing John Salmons!!!

Yes, I think he's overpaid as well.

But, how about have an open mind about Salmons? Instead of being pessimistic and pre-mature about him. Which is all I've seen you be in reference to Salmons.

Who knows.

It's possible. But it would basically come at expense of a solid and deep team.

Solid and deep = crap on the old win it all scale.

Get me KG and Ron and you can have everything else. I'll build a contender wiht the scraps. Be hardpressed not to. If Jermaine and Ron and Foster, old Reggie, and Jamal Tinsley can win 60, then KG and Ron and whatever we have leftover can get close.

Keep Bibby and it would be lights out. Even if you don't, it might be lights out. Maybe get your money our of Salmons as the starter -- only place he has ever played worth a damn anyway.

So Bonzi, Bibby, Brad for KG? In an instant. Sign Wright or somebody off the FA market and go contend.

I really don't want to give up Artest. I'd like to see how he plays this year, being in shape from the beginning and having a training camp. How about KT, Bonzi and Bibby. We certainlly have enough people who can play the point. Hey, its all fantasy anyway.:D
