Bonzi to play in China

Huh. I imagine he's still got a lot of game left... I'm surprised he hasn't landed on a team here. I guess his stint with the Rockets didn't pan out too well though...

Bonzi was one of those fluke rule players for Hollinger last year, and he actually seemed to validate it--not that it's surprising given his age, his baggage and his lack of consistency. Big talent, but conditioning became more of an issue and it's clear why he's not in the league anymore

I still think that Bonzi and Ron were on there way to developing something really special. When those two were on, they were damn fun to watch, really complimented each others game.

He's a bad guy and a bad player now. I'm really glad all of this happened to him. How could he turn down 35 mil over 5 years from us when he was like 31 years old at the time? That puts him in the same category as Latrell Sprewell.

Have fun dominating those tough China leagues!!!

That's a pretty ridiculous comment.

Have you followed Bonzi's career? Do you think he was a stand up citizen? Do you know why he was practically run out of town by every team he's been on? Just because he had one miracle playoff series with us doesn't make him a model citizen. I think it's hilarious that you guys stick up for the athletes that are indeed bad guys. I just call it like it is while you continue to worship anybody who can or has played in the NBA.

Since you guys think that I'm just such a jerk for ripping on some of the bad boys in the NBA, I've compiled a short list of some of Bonzi's highlights in his career. There is a lot more if you want me to submit that. Here is the kind of guy you are supporting:

- Suspended 2 games for publically cursing at his coach after being subbed out
- Fined for making an obscene gesture to a fan
- Suspended and fined for intentionally stiking and verbally abusing a ref
- Cited for criminal trespass in 2001
- Part of the imfamous "Portland Jail Blazer" team
- Suspended in Game 2 of the 2005 playoff series against the Suns by coach Mike Fratello for "undisclosed reasons" and then didn't dress in game 4 of the serious
- Turned down a 5 year, $38.5 offer from the Kings...LOL!
- Missed numerous games for the Rockets for "personal reasons"
- Was told by coach Jeff Van Gundy to "stay away" from
the arena at one point

But you're right....I'm sure he's a GREAT guy!!!!

i don't really mind the slamming on bonzi (though i do think it's unnecessary), as much as the insinuations that china, in general, sucks. just my two cents.

Huh? I never slammed China. I'm simply saying that the Chinese league is nothing close to the NBA and that Bonzi deserves to be in that league.

you're right, i initially read it as "i'm glad bonzi's in china!" as if china were some sort of prison sentence.

my bad.

Look, you can dislike Bonzi and all the other "bad guys" in the NBA all you want. I don't mind. You can hope for all of them to get banished to Siberia, if that makes you feel better. That's okay.

What is ridiculous to me is the fact that you're happy about someone's career taking a turn for the worse. In your words, you're "glad" that he's having a rough go, and it's apparently based on your disdain for him since he turned down the Kings contract offer. Whether that connection is valid or not, I think it's pretty sad that you're so excited to see someone hit the wall.

I don't think Bonzi Wells was a stand up citizen in his time in the NBA. I think he was sort of dealt a bad hand, and then did many things to make it even worse, starting with the things he did in Portland. I have, however, always felt that he could be a really good player, and I followed his career hoping that he'd pull it together, rather than rooting for it to fall apart. When he played for us, I was hopeful that he'd be able to contribute for awhile.

He was dumb to turn down our offer, said he'd been misled by his agent, fired said agent, and went to the Rockets. When Adelman went to Houston, I thought that again it might be good for him. He got traded to the Hornets, and Byron Scott didn't know how to use him. Now he's playing in China. I'm glad to know that he's not dead or in prison.

You're claim that I am standing up for or somehow worshipping him because he plays in the NBA is even more ridiculous than your declaration that "he's a bad guy and a bad player", and is on the same level as Latrell Sprewell. But it just goes to show that you don't know jack **** about me, and it explains how you can be so quick to judge someone else based on some bad decisions and mistakes made.

I agree...Especially on D. They just bullied the other team. If Brad didnt turn into such a ***** we would have taken the San Antonio series.

Ah well, he turned chub chub and now he's off to China. Poor guy.

No offense dude, but you sound soft. Do you feel sorry for OJ Simpson too because he has "hit the wall?" You do realize that he has completely brought this upon himself, right? I am all about accountabliltiy, which Bonzi will never hold himself to. I don't wish bad things upon good people. In fact, I am extremely sympathetic for those that are good people who have suffered in life for whatever reason.

Go back and read your own post. My god, you laid it out perfectly. He has been given just about every chance a human being can possibly want and yet he continues alienate his teammates, coaches, and organization. He couldn't even succeed with Rick Adelman. Why should I, or you, or anybody feel sorry for this guy? He has made millions of dollars playing BASKETBALL for a living and has shown that he has no respect for anybody. It's amazing that you stick up for him.

You're missing the point, and it's no surprise. I thought you were off the mark for equating Bonzi Wells with Latrell Sprewell; now you're comparing him with a man who was tried for double homicide, who has now been convicted of armed robbery and kidnapping and is serving a multi year sentence. Wow.

If I sound soft to you because I don't jump up and down with glee when someone has a rough go of it, regardless of whether they brought it on themselves, then I'll be soft. Like I said, you don't know very much about me anyways, and based on your inability to grasp the very simple point I'm making, it seems pointless to spend anymore time on this topic.

Krstic is coming back to the NBA:

Nenad Krstic is unhappy playing in Russia and has signed what is believed to be a three-year, $16 million deal to play for the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The Nets (he's still a restricted free agent) received the offer sheet on Friday and have seven days to match, although all signs are pointing to them declining since they have no roster spot and a surplus of bigs. It sounds like it's nearly a guarantee that Krstic will be in OKC soon and could become the team's starter.
