The problem with that (2 or more years) is simply that our core is too old for that type of timeframe. If you're going to take years getting it together, then you need to break up the core NOW. In three years they are 30,31,32 and MIGHT have a year or two left in them where they could possibly contend. So you do all the work of reloading...only to almost immediately have to tear it all down and start over yet again.
That's very true, Brick, but I would be happy with 1-2 years of championship quality ball before having to reload again. Dynasties are nice but rare.

That would be a freaking dream. :)
Yeh, I'm afraid that's all it will ever be...a dream. And, since I'm dreaming, I'd really rather have Howard in Orlando but they're on the upswing with few holes we could plug for them in exhange and they'd be laughed out of the league if they let both Howard AND Shaq get away.

You get what you pay for. Magloire is reportedly being pursued by several teams. We aren't going to get him for two bags of chips and a open jar of salsa. At this point, if we're going to get a starting caliber player for the PF position, it is - IMHO - going to take at least one of our "core" to get the job done. We just don't have a lot of spare trading parts hanging around that other teams seem to be clamoring for.

Have you heard ANY rumors of any team looking at our roster and trying to figure out how to swing a deal for Kenny Thomas or Brian Skinner or Corliss Williamson?
No, but that doesn't mean there couldn't be teams having interest.

Hey If theo ratliff is let go by portland With the new cba allowing them to waive him. Do you guys think we should try and get him if he comes cheaper then what he is now. I mean i think he'd be a nice addition starter or not. I know people have talked about trades for him But i wouldn't want the contract he has right now, But ive been reading that portland is considering just letting him go. I think he' d be worth 3 to 4 mil a year what do you guys think. Sorry if someone already said this i didn't read all the posts on this thread.
If he does get waived then I think it is safe to say the Petrie would seriously be looking at this guy. Jerry Reynolds nevers shuts up about the guy so he'd be in Petries ear big time.

Precisely.

You know I wouldn't be all that surprised if Petrie waits to see what teams are going to cut players with the new amnesty clause to see if he can snag a good player for the MLE.
