Board of Govs Meeting Updates-DAY 2

I'm moving to the point of "sell" or "Maloofs, get the hell out of my city". Selling is way better, but the damage the have done to me as a fan and the city is significant.

I hear that. They've been tactless throughout this whole thing and every kick to the teeth they've given us has been followed by a gut punch or if we're lucky, them spitting in our faces. i don't think i could ever like or respect them again now and I'm sure many feel the same.

**** the Maloofs. I can't believe they would say something like that when we've supported them all these years. May they rot in bankruptcy hell.

I can't believe they said that. I'm through with the Maloofs, they can go screw themselves. Just because THEY couldn't make it work in Sacramento doesn't mean somebody else can. I'm to the point where I want the Kings to stay but I want the Maloofs to sell. Their relationship with the city is going to be ruined..

IMO, Burkle doesn't jump into this blind and throw around his name unless he's done his homework. And he's been there before with the Penguins. He's seen that the current team ownership has not done enough to make the Sacramento market work. He's seen that they haven't played the game to get a new arena built correctly. He got the attention of other owners in the NBA just by him being involved. We all have questioned the Maloofs financial situation and their history of head scratching decisions. This isn't blind fan homerism, it's beyond that. You don't have to go into a board meeting and defend your financial state if you aren't in real trouble. The other owners see this and the move to Anaheim as more motivated by other factors than Sacramento not working. Time to stop the rush to move and dig deeper here.

Executive committee did not take a straw poll on whether Maloofs have votes to move to Anaheim. Owners want time to digest Burkle proposal.

Yep, that's pretty much the last straw. They're going to have an entire city dreaming of bankrupting them at this point. Nice move, jerks.

"We're not selling, absolutely, you can print that," Gavin Maloof just told me. He wouldn't talk about relocation request. Stern up next.

David Stern would love to have guys like Ron Burkle in the club. That was a smart strategy by KJ, knows how the League works.

Yup. Burkle might not be a legit buyer for all we know. It sounds too good to be true almost. But by waiting until the deadline to break the news, it causes the BOG to pause and think and next thing you know, the deadline has passed. Brilliant work by KJ. Let no one accuse him of being an inexperienced politician.

It was never said he would buy. More likely be part of building an arena.

A third owner told @CBSSports that there is a "bias" on BOG against relocation for #Kings. Could be glimmer of hope, though Sac efforts...

... are coming late in game. As one team rep said yesterday, "Too little, too late."

Maybe the Maloofs should go back to where they came from.

Or they could let go of the Palms and treat the basketball team like a top priority, not flip the finger to its fans, and mend some fences.

"Had a real long discussion about the Sacramento relocation application."

"Good presentation from Anahiem and Sacramento"

"Clay Bennett will lead a fact finding mission" regarding KJ's new info and lack of documentation from Anahiem

MAY 2 NEW DEADLINE

Per Stern:
Extended to May 2nd.
Clay Bennet is the chairman of the committee
Time to check Mayor's claims of "inducements"
Anaheims documents were incomplete.

Hmm...

The issue with this Burkle group is that at the end of the day they are not going to fund the arena themselves. It sounds good initially with a billionaire saying he will help, but its almost certain he will not put up the money by himself. There will still need to be a huge chunk, 100s of millions, coming from the public. I don't think you can get that for any city in Cali right now. They also know that the Maloofs won't sell. To me, all this is just more of a show to create doubt and mess with the heads of the Maloofs so they will have second thoughts about filing because they don't know how the other owners feel about it.

One of the CBS reporters said one of the members on the relocation committee said its "too little too late" regarding Burkle. LA Times reported that another member said this whole Burkle thing just seems like "grandstanding". Also, I forgot if it was Kreidler or Bizjak that said someone told him Burkle did this with multiple teams before and it never goes anywhere. It all just comes down to do the Maloofs have the the persuasion skills to get enough support since some owners are just on the fence to go either way.

I have it on good authority that this is NOT grandstanding and 100% legit. Not to be vague but I am getting my info from someone directly invlolved in this.

If it's "too little, too late" why extend it? It simply makes any new info a reason to change the date. Nothing is "too late" as there is no way of defining what "on time" is.
