Board of Govs Meeting Updates-DAY 2

You are so ignorant. It takes more effort to drive two hours to attend a basketball game on a limited income than it is to drive 10-15 minutes. People have an emotional investment in this team who do not live in the city, or the suburbs. This is the kind of bubble many people perceive with Sacramento. They are in their own little world.

I don't think he was referring to those fans you stated. It's the ones in so cal, out of state, out of country.

I think there is a small group of fans in Idaho as well. I seem to recall the only radio station they could get with games is KHTK. So it's kinda like their home team.

whether you're a fan in Los Angeles like me, or a fan in Sacramento like the majority, it doesn't make one better than the other.

You're a fan of the SACRAMENTO Kings, not the WORLDWIDE Kings.

I grew attached to the Kings not only because of the great teams, but because of the incredible fanbase, which I connected to through the television when I was kid watching them in L.A. Whenever the Kings would make a run, I would yell "C'mon Kings fans, turn it up!!!"......and they DID

However, both kinds of fans develop extreme emotional attachments and you cannot discredit one or the other and/or put rankings on either because if you and I lived in Sacramento, I would feel the same way they are feeling right now.

That in itself, is an advantage for non-Sacramento residents. You have the opportunity to not get ripped out emotionally when they move. Though it still pains me to see the Kings move since I grew so attached to the Sacramento fans, memories as the Sac Kings, etc.

Why are you so argumenative? So you are more of a fan because you would follow the kings no matter where they end up? Im not a basketball fan cause the NBA would be dead to me if the kings left? Whats your angle bro?

Hey teamdime, that pic of putin scares me. Great pic!

Oh so now the fans outside of Sac are even better than those in Sac. That's friggin' rich.

Yah no crap.. So the approx 100k that my family has put into season tickets and gear/clothes/misc over the last 25 years or so doesn't count because some numnut that lives 300 miles away will follow the team in Anaheim. Yah, I guess that makes him a better fan. Give it up Showtime.

I sat next to some guys from Fresno and they made the drive without fail. Never gave up their tickets.

I'm from Fresno while not a season ticket holder I made the drive up with my girl for the Lakers game. Fact is while I'm not a local I do not want to see the team move to Anaheim. It will have zero effect on me other than I would have to drive a longer distance to see the team I love, but 25 years is a long time for anything to be in existence in an area. That fact alone makes me oppose the move. Also this team belongs to the city of Sacramento whose supported it through thick and thin. I don't have a vested interest like I said because I'm a Fresno native, but the Kings are my team, Sacramento's team and the embody the very same kind of people that makes me proud to be not only fans of the Kings, but fans of the little guys like my Fresno State Bulldogs. Anyone who can't understand why moving the team no matter where the fans are located to another area is a bad move should really kill themself

Because you said THIS to the dogbert post that directly blamed Kings fans instead of city leaders.

What made you think I was talking about the average citizen/fan? I'm talking about city leaders. What you guys as fans have done up there is nothing short of amazing. Keep up the efforts.

I don't think you understand my point. There are a ton of Kings fans in the surrounding counties of the northstate. Most of them are not fans because of their ties to being a Sacramento resident. I myself live several counties away, and yet am a fan because they are regional, and because they played some of the best team basketball ever in the past. There are a lot of fans who are only fans because they live in Sacramento. Many people don't really follow the league or other teams that much, and only have a deep passion for Sacramento basketball. Those feelings have been echoed by those who would embrace another team moving here if the Kings leave, because they just care about a team representing their town. That's not the case for many fans who don't have ties to the Sac community. I would not like it if the team leaves, but I am also not of the number who only care because of the presence of the team in the same city in which they live.

Then why the hell would they care if the Kings move to Anaheim or Timbuktu? What, are they going to make the drive from Modesto, or Vacaville, or Redding, or Reno to Anaheim to see games? Give me a break. A few die hards might but you can probably count them on both hands. And if they're that huge of a fan, they can just as easily fly to any city to see them!

actually they have proven that love/hate exists, by studying the brainwave activity in certain parts of the brain, and the way the brain responds to those situations. not that it matters though.

Really though, all that proves is that we have different emotions. It doesn't prove that it's what we think of when we think of love.

I disgree. The majority of those fans are because like you said it's regional. If they team leaves they wont continue to follow them just like the locals. They became fans because of the regionality not because they liked the team. Also, if they are truely regional fans they wouldnt support them in so cal.

Cosigned, I think I kind of agree with both. It does take a lot of effort to attend games living around Chico, and a lot of an investment. But my fam puts forth that effort because its the SACRAMENTO KINGS and wouldnt root for a team if they moved to SoCal. I dont see why one group of fans need to be better than the others. I mean I root for the team because they rep my region pretty much, a lot of kids I went to school with did too and their families also. All regional fans are equal IMO. I respect everyone's efforts and contributions.
