BKN Gets: Richaun Holmes, Davion Mitchell, & Future 2nd (Top 55 Protected)
BKN Gives: Royce O'Neale & Patty Mills
Why for BKN? Sell off a couple win now, expiring vets for a young PG to continue their rebuild. By the way, could you imagine a defensive lineup of Mitchell - Bridges - Finney-Smith - Simmons - Claxton?

PG - Dinwiddie / Mitchell / Sumner
SG - Bridges / Thomas
SF - Johnson / Harris
PF - Simmons / Finney-Smith
C - Claxton / Holmes / Sharpe

Team X Gets: Patty Mills
Team X Gives: Future 2nd (Top 55 Protected)
Why for Team X? Get a useful PG for free.

SAC Gets: Royce O'Neale
SAC Gives: Richaun Holmes & Davion Mitchell
Why for Kings? This frees up an extra $7 mil in cap space, but they also pickup a great 3&D wing to help the team next year and allow Monk to take over as the backup PG. If we resign Barnes to a 4 year/$60 mil deal and waive Okpala & Edwards, we'd still have just over $18 mil in cap space to use. That allows us to throw a ~$80 mil/4 year contract at a free agent (G. Williams, PJ Washington, C, Johnson, etc.). This would allow us to start Fox-O'Neale-G. Williams-Murray-Sabonis which gives us 3 good/great defenders with length next to Fox & Sabonis. Then you'd have the best bench in the league led by Monk, Huerter, and Barnes. That's a ton of firepower. You'd also have an exception to go out and pickup a quality backup C to round out the bench.

PG - Fox (32 min) / Monk (16 min)
SG - O'Neale (26 min) / Monk (10 min) / Huerter (12 min)
SF - G. Williams (26 min) / Huerter (14 min) / Barnes (8 min)
PF - Murray (30 min) / Barnes (18 min)
C - Sabonis (32 min) / Free Agent C (16 min)

I’m surprised the poll has indicated thus far that we think we’re overpaying. I would have thought we’d need to add a couple/few 2nds to make it work.

That being said, this seems like a great opportunity to build a team with 3 good defenders between Fox & Sabonis while having likely the best bench in the league. With Sabonis and Monk up for new contracts the following season, I don’t think we could make something like this work down the road.

Royce is for sure available but I doubt the Nets want to take on additional years to move off him. If they can trade Ben they could be more open to something like that.
