Big (Man) Love

DeMarcus Cousins: 28/10/2/0/7 versus Grizzlies
DeMarcus Cousins: 33/14/5/3/1 versus Warriors
DeMarcus Cousins: 22/11/8/0/2 versus lakers
DeMarcus Cousins: 39/13/3/1/3 versus Trailblazers (8 turnovers)
DeMarcus Cousins: 41/23/6/1/1 versus Kings
DeMarcus Cousins: 29/12/10/3/0 versus Cavaliers

Damn.

Dang...that guy is pretty good. Wish we could draft a player like that!

  1. If you refer to the OP, you will see that I qualified what kind of big man I was going to post ITT. If I were going just post every big man's stat lines in here, I'd be including Ian Mahinmi and Boban Marjanovic, too.
  2. Porzingis, to paraphrase the great American philosopher Bomani Jones, is not "Big Man," he is "Tall Man." Porzingis doesn't play like a big but, more importantly, he doesn't identify himself as a big. This thread is not for just every talented tall dude in the league; that's why Antetokuonmpo, Durant and Nowitzki don't get their stat lines posted in here, either.

10/31 Big Man update:

Andre Drummond: 10/12/5/1/0 versus lakers

Sorry. Only one top-level big man played last night, and I couldn't be bothered to stay up to watch that game.

Andre Drummond: 10/12/5/1/0 versus lakers

Sorry. Only one top-level big man played last night, and I couldn't be bothered to stay up to watch that game.

You obviously are underestimating the power of GOAT big man Lil Sabonis and his 12/16/5 night.

11/1 Big Man update:

(BMOtN) Joel Embiid: 21/12/6/3/3 versus Hawks
Dwight Howard: 17/11/3/1/0 [6 to] versus Bucks
Hassan Whiteside: 13/14/1/1/0 versus Bulls
Nikola Vucevic: 7/5/4/1/0 versus Grizzlies
Marc Gasol: 22/9/0/0/1 versus Magic
Karl-Anthony Towns: 2/5/0/1/2 versus Pelicans
Anthony Davis: 24/12/6/3/1 versus Timberwolves
DeMarcus Cousins: 35/9/6/6/3 [8 to] versus Timberwolves
Jonas Valanciunas: 8/5/0/0/0 versus Nuggets
Nikola Jokic: 8/16/10/1/2 versus Raptors
Rudy Gobert: 16/10/1/0/3 versus Trailblazers

I have no philosophical objection to awarding BMOtN to a player on a losing team. But... 8 turnovers, though...

11/3 Big Man update:

Andre Drummond: 24/15/0/1/2 versus Bucks
Nikola Vucevic: 14/3/2/1/0 versus Bulls
Joel Embiid: 18/9/5/2/2 versus Pacers
Dwight Howard: 20/13/1/0/0 versus Spurs

(BMOtN) Anthony Davis: 30/13/4/1/3 versus Mavericks
DeMarcus Cousins: 20/22/7/1/0 versus Mavericks
Hassan Whiteside: 13/3/0/2/2 versus Nuggets
Nikola Jokic: 19/14/2/4/1 versus Heat
Jonas Valanciunas: 6/8/0/1/2 versus Jazz
Rudy Gobert: 15/7/0/0/2 versus Raptors

Man, if New Orleans could just get some productivity out of their backcourt. Like, seriously, any productivity at all. Jrue Holiday had six points tonight. Six. He's the highest paid player on the team!

Can someone explain how Andre Drummond has managed to double his free throw percentage, without it resulting in a significant increase in his scoring average?

That seems like an incomplete answer: his FGA's and overall FG% are right on pace with his career average, and his FTM has almost doubled, but his scoring average is virtually unmoved.

11/4 Big Man update:

(BMOtN) Marc Gasol: 21/6/1/0/0 versus Clippers
Andre Drummond: 16/19/1/3/1 versus Kings
Karl-Anthony Towns: 31/12/2/0/2 versus Mavericks
Anthony Davis: 27/16/0/0/3 versus Bulls
DeMarcus Cousins: 25/11/4/1/1 versus Bulls
Nikola Jokic: 8/7/3/0/2 versus Warriors

I'm going to go off-book tonight. I'm normally biased towards the 'counting stats,' but I'm giving BMOtN to Gasol, who is the only top-tier big man who played well against another winning team. Shout out to Cousins, though, who looked like hard-boiled ass for three quarters, before posting 17/7 of his 25/11 in the fourth quarter and overtime.

11/4 Big Man update:

(BMOtN) Marc Gasol: 21/6/1/0/0 versus Clippers
Andre Drummond: 16/19/1/3/1 versus Kings
Karl-Anthony Towns: 31/12/2/0/2 versus Mavericks
Anthony Davis: 27/16/0/0/3 versus Bulls
DeMarcus Cousins: 25/11/4/1/1 versus Bulls
Nikola Jokic: 8/7/3/0/2 versus Warriors

Last season we were talking about Jokic being a supercharged version of Brad Miller but throughout most of the season, he just sorta seems like a normal version of Brad to the Bone.

11/5 Big Man update:

(BMOtN) Hassan Whiteside: 21/17/1/3/2 versus Clippers
Nikola Vucevic: 13/10/7/2/0 versus Celtics
Jonas Valanciunas: 6/3/0/0/0 versus Wizards
Rudy Gobert: 13/5/1/0/0 versus Rockets
Dwight Howard: 13/9/1/1/1 versus Timberwolves
Karl-Anthony Towns: 16/9/2/0/2 versus Hornets

One game left tonight involving a top big man but, barring otherworldly numbers from Gasol in the second half, I'm going to go ahead and award BMOtN to Whiteside.

11/6 Big Man update:

Hassan Whiteside: 3/6/0/0/1 versus Warriors

Whiteside was the only top big man playing tonight, and I wasn't staying up to watch that.

11/7 Big Man update:

Anthony Davis: 37/14/4/1/2 versus Pacers
DeMarcus Cousins: 32/13/6/0/2 versus Pacers
Jonas Valanciunas: 21/10/0/0/0 versus Bulls
Dwight Howard: 21/9/0/1/1 versus Knicks

(BMOtN) Nikola Jokic: 41/12/5/2/2 versus Nets
Rudy Gobert: 16/15/1/2/3 versus Seventy-sixers

I almost wasn't going to give it to Jokic (I mean, come on... it's the Nets), but 41/12 in a win should get you BMOtN most nights.

11/7 Big Man update:

Anthony Davis: 37/14/4/1/2 versus Pacers
DeMarcus Cousins: 32/13/6/0/2 versus Pacers

I guess I take back what I said about Jokic just being Brad Miller.

Love seeing the DMC/Brow numbers right next to each other. I really hope those two can keep dragging that team to victory.
New Orleans' schedule down the stretch is ****ing ridiculous. They're absolutely going to need their injured guys to come back and step up immediately, for the highest paid player on their team to start earning his money for a change, and they're still going to need a big who can give Davis/Cousins a blow to fall into their laps to have a chance.

Kosta for New Orleans' 2019 1st rounder. Who says no?

11/8 Big Man update:

(BMOtN) Andre Drummond: 14/21/4/0/1 versus Pacers
Nikola Vucevic: 24/5/1/4/1 versus Knicks
Hassan Whiteside: 23/10/1/1/4 versus Suns
