Let's just say $$$ talks.
If I recall I remember some of us were talking about Beno being a very good backup PG, in terms of talent, even last year--he was (keyword was) definitely a calming influence in his headstrong savvy play as starter last year, and although he would go on scoring/shooting and assist binges from time to time, he wasn't elite in any one area, and really has some athleticism/defensive deficiencies against quicker players. I've documented my thoughts in the past on this issue--Beno was always billed as a jack of all trades master of none type even on draft day, and it's a tad safe to say he's overachieved in the league--but he's still not exceptional in any one area, and his game doesn't seem tailor-made to improve on from here on out, made even more so by his (lack of) work ethic. He's still young however and would make a solid transition starter for now, but he would be best served as a placeholder for a point guard (Bobby Brown? doubt it) who possesses great primacy, consistency, passing/shooting ability and/or elite defensive skills. Granted, that may be hard to find immediately, but we can always accomplish through draft or trade.
