Ben Wallace to Bulls...

And there goes another option for our hole at PF/C:mad: . Come on Geoff make a move! I mean Big Ben probably wouldn't have come here in a S&T anyway but now there's even less for us to choose from and the pistons will start looking at Bonzi again.

lol,

if you read in that article da bullz are looking 4 some cap relief, throw corliss, potapenko, hart, SAR for chandler :)

"Look for the Bulls to now explore trade scenarios involving Tyson Chandler.

One potential opportunity, according to sources, is New Orleans, which is mulling a Chandler-for-P. J. Brown swap. Brown is in the last year of his contract, which would give the Bulls even more cap relief next season. "

Now all of a sudden the Pistons have money to spend for either Pryzb or Bonzi. C'mon Petrie! Do your thang!

Like it was that realistic we'd be getting Ben? Not too much.

Great move by the Bulls, I'm gonna dig their team even more now. Just hope there is enough offense from the wing players, as there is nothing but hustle points in the front-court aside from 6'8" Mike Sweetney. They're gonna be damn good defensively.

Maybe we can trade them Brad to get Chandler, brad can back up Ben and be an offensive guy off the bench. ;)

On Bonzi...

Not more than us. Also have to factor in coming off the bench, moving again, being on a team that has questions of how good they really will be. Obviously not like in the past now, espeically with Flip at the helm.

Pistons just got a bunch less tough.

Doesn't really make sense that they would go after Bonzi. I could see them spending money on another C probably Pryz.

That whole Pistons run was a little shorter than I thought.;)

turns down a 4-48 deal with a championship contender to go to the Bulls for 4-52?

looks like Ben really doesnt like Flip Saunders...

Maybe the Bulls will move Chandler now. Hard to see two non-scoring, non-passing, non shooting guys on the frontline.

The Bulls have taken themselves out of the Pryzbilla race. It's between us and the Spurs. Hmm, starting C for championship contender or backup C for playoff contender. I wonder who he'll pick...

Brad is WAY better then Chandler. This move is silly. 2 time all-star for an injury prone underacheiver.

Just because Brad had a rough finish to last year, the rest of his career should not be ignored.

But he's getting older, is soft, not athletic, inconsistent effort, not a shot blocker, not a good rebounder, one-dimensonal (can take his game away), didn't show up for the playoffs last year (Rick not playing any of the back-ups partly).

Chandler had some illness problems the 1st 2 months of 05-06 yes, he had one bad month in December up till 1/21 (since November wasn't too bad), where he had a consistent form for the rest of the season. Then vs. the Heat, he brought defense, intangibles, and energy. Not great stats, but most of the aforementioned doesn't show up on the stat sheet. So people say he had a bad series, when he didn't, and had a solid one. Had a nice year in 04-05. I've watched the Bulls regularly almost as much as the Kings the last two seasons... Chandler's a good young big, and brings what we lack.

Agree to disagree here.

And Nazr... since he would of been an option for them too. :)

Brad
older- not really he is 30
not soft- (ask shaq)
unathletic as they get- effects his rebounding and shot blocking, but he makes up for it with heart and hustle.
one-dimensional- shot, pass, smart player, hustle, not really.

Ill stop hjacking this thread now.

Well Chicago will be shopping for a center now. But from the ESPN article:

They lose Wallace for nothing and don't have anything more than the $5.1 million mid-level exception to offer to potential replacements.

There are a few starting center-caliber free agents out there, such as Joel Przybilla and Nazr Mohammed, but none who can give the Pistons what Wallace did.
Pistons fans have to be a bit stunned over this. Despite the talk, I think they thought he wouldn't really leave.

Apparently Detroit said 4-yr, $48 million was their final offer. No room for negotiation.

Not soft? He hasn't been tough since 03-04. I loved him then, and slowly started not liking him sometimes in 04-05 into 05-06 as he got more soft and showing less effort and toughness and energy.

30 - but is becoming more and more of a jumpshooting big, he took more than 3 pointers than ever this season. Hit a bunch of them too, but it's a sign.

Heart? Inconsistent, and on effort too. He sure doesn't show it that much.

His passing game won't be as utilized with a new system. He has a jumpshot, but you can take that away like it was in the playoffs. He had one good game, 19 pts in G3 vs. Spurs. He didn't hard foul anyone, he occaisonally fouls during the season, but mainly lets people just swoop to the basket. His jumper is great during the regular season, but has very little else to impact the game, and could if he showed more effort and heart. He hasn't consistently since 03-04.

Hustle? Not as much as he used to, he still does sometimes, yes.

Smart? Yup.

I'm done. :)

How do you know what "system" Muss will use for sure. If Brad is still in a Kings uni this season, I would assume a good coach would find a way to use each players best skills, while compensating for their weaknesses, as much as possible.

Having said that, boy do we need rebouding and some shot-blocking.:(

Why couldn't he play like he did in 03-04 with a new coach? Musselman is A LOT more demanding than Adelman. Yeah he had a kindof bad last season but he played almost every game and for a big guy he played a ton of minutes. He even started blocking shots now and then after Artest came.

Now that this trade is officially through, I have to say I'm not very impressed with the Bulls' pick. Bulls are definitely offensive minded, and needed an offensive post player, and Ben Wallace doesn't quite meet that need.

However, Ben's decision was probably because he wasn't happy with Detroit anymore. That's only about 50k a year that he would decline to stay with the Pistons, and for him it's pocket change. He left because he didn't wanna be in Detroit anymore, plain and simple.

Not even in the same league as a guy like Chandler in those areas, and its only going to get worse. Heck in 10min less per game last year Chandler STILL beat Brad as a rebunder/shotblocker etc. And now in a new system which cannot possibly be as well suited to Brad's unorthodox "big man" game, the strengths get even less well used. Chandler is not Big Ben, not yet (remmeber it took Ben a few years to blossom too), but claim's of Brad's superiority based on...well, his ability to hit a jumper basically raises the question is Brad really supposed to be better than Big Ben too? Badly outscores and passes him as well.

Well, he isn't gonna use the princeton to a significant degree. Of course his passing will still be there, but not as much as a focus of what it was.

Once we get over this Bonzi episode, Miller/Thomas has to be dealt with. One or both those guys has to go. Personally, I'd only say Reef is safe. At some point you've got to wonder if Miller will ever showup come playoff time...does he really even want it? To put him on the block is a tough decision.

lol, agreed Brick.

Agreed. What I've been saying for awhile, 2/4 of our current of FC has gotta be gone to get some complimentary and defense and athleticism in there. Right now it's not that strong. I suspect one of Brad/KT at least, will be gone. I'd prefer both.

Why is everyone so ga-ga la dee da-da over Tyson Chandler....just b/c he possesses a few skillz we lack along the front-line...a block here and there is great but how many times will you have to watch the perfect drive and dish by Bibby or Ron to Chandler only to watch him bobble it out of bounds OR miss an easy put in.....

Fundametally flawed players really limit what u can do as a team....if he was so special the Bulls would not want to unload him....and fans would not be hankering to ship him out either....Tyson Chandler is a marginally better player than Kwame Brown....

Did the Lakers light the league on fire with Kwane Brown???

Not quite.

The good news is Geoff Petrie shares my sentiments....based on his history of personnel moves....he has NO ZERO ZILCH NADA interest in Tyson Chandler....so if you want Chandler in a Kings jersey, you might just want to check into a room at the reality inn.

:p
