Believing Ric Bucher can make you crazy (merged)

I didn't see any other thread on this...

Tonight on ESPN Coast to Coast, Ric Bucher (I know, I know) reported that either last week or this past weekend (I forget which) the Lakers and Kings had a deal in place to send Mike Bibby to L.A. for...get this...VLAD RADMANOVIC!!!!!

I seriously choked on a glass of Orange Juice.

VLSAJFJLDK:JE DADRMONDOCIVC@!!!!!!!!!

According to Ric, the basketball people agreed, but in the end the Maloofs could not stomach helping the Lakers. I haven't said this in about 3 years, but THANK GOD FOR THE MALOOFS.

Now, there HAD to be something else in this deal, so it puts the whole thing into skepticism. But Vlad is awful, and is signed through 2010. Looking at the salaries, maybe Mihm and his expiring $5M were thrown in.

Look, I want to get rid of Bibby's deal, too. But for MAAAAYBE $5M, and possibly for no expirings depending on who was the filler? Vlad is freaking terrible.

Look at those numbers. Putrid.

Ugh. Petrie, what the hell are you thinking?

Would think that Farmar, and/or Mihm were involved too. Plus, Vlad Rad is out, what, some 6-8 weeks now because he slipped on Vlade's icy porch. So that would be a signifcant step toward tanking.

Now, does all that excuse Petire's infatuation with softie shooters while making a deal with the enemy? Hardly.

When's the last time the Petrie traded inter-divsion while with the Kings?

If you guessed never, you'd be correct.

Ric is a wierdo, to say the least.

We're also apperently trading Bibby to the Cavs, in a 3 way deal, getting back Mike James according to Ric.

I think he's still pissed Webber burned him about going to NY. Holds a grudge. lol

Like I said, "Ric Bucher (I know, I know)."

There are a lot of reasons to view the deal with skepticism. Still. It freaked me out enough to come see if anyone here had mentioned it.

Yeah, it was mentioned in the game thread and then promptly dismissed. Ric Bucher is NOT credible. Period. End of sentence. End of discussion.

;)

Kindly go check out my thread in the personnel section. Think Ric read sthe board? ;)

Or...dumdumdum...maybe I AM Ric Bucher! MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

Ok, sorry, but I just sat through the Kings v. Celtics -- everybody has a breaking point.

But didn't you say you were also watching Star Wars?

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm?

Honestly a Rad/Farmar/expiring package doesn't sound all that bad to me. Rad's not great, but he at least has a purpose and can shoot from outside. You get a young point guard and some cap space. If the deal was expanded to something like Bibby/Thomas for Kwame/Rad/Farmar/expiring even better.

But still.... it's Bucher. The guy is a joke.

I hadn't thought of Farmar. I can't see the Lakers actually doing that, but if they did...I would like this deal better. Ric reported this as merely Bibby/Vlad. He didn't mention anyone else. I went through the roof. Then I went online and realized it wouldn't come close to working (I had thought Vlad's deal was closer to like $9-10M per year). So then I figured Mihm fit...but I still would hate that deal. Farmar/Mihm/Vlad? I would be ok with that. Kwame would be ok, too...with $9M off the books after next year.

Yeah, I kind of take Bucher about as serious as I would the National Enquirer...or NY Post. Same category. Bucher is a nice guy, I've had lunch with him before, but as far as doing more than just stirring up the pot, thats about it...he of the 'Lets see how much crap I can stir up to make the world think that Chris Webber hates everything about Sacramento'. I take Bucher about as serious as I do David Aldridge, Andre Aldridge, and Steven A. Smith.

The only way I want Radmanovic's contract is we get rid of Kenny Thomas's contract and even then I would still be 50-50. Radmanovic is waste of talent you thought Pedja was one dimensional wait until you see Radmanovic up close

Considering he's going to be out at least six weeks with a separated shoulder, I don't think Rad is going to be involved in any trades.

Although it COULD be a damn sneaky way of tanking. Trade for the injured guy. Get a guy back...just oh darn, he can't play until next season. ;)

Maloofs say no to helping Lakers?

From ESPN.com (Marc Stein)

One of the more interesting scenarios I heard Tuesday came from my ESPN colleague Ric Bucher, who reported on NBA Coast to Coast and SportsCenter that the Lakers recently had a deal in place to acquire Mike Bibby from Sacramento before Kings owners Joe and Gavin Maloof vetoed it, unable to stomach the thought of helping their playoff rivals of yesteryear.
Had that deal gone down, there would be no Kidd-to-the-Lakers talk.

Bibby going to Cleveland, however, remains a possibility. The Cavs lack the trade assets to complete a trade for Bibby, but one scenario in circulation Tuesday had Minnesota joining in on a three-team deal that would potentially send Mike James, among others, to Sacramento as Bibby's successor at the point. The Wolves, according to NBA front-office sources, have committed to trying to move James before the deadline after he lasted just a half-season as the No. 1 point guard in Minnesota before ceding his starting spot to rookie Randy Foye.

Was this the Bibby for Vlade trade?

I was hoping that was bogus...If it wasnt then that just means Petrie has completely lost his mind.

Yea i was reading that earlier, i guess they were really close to a deal, and somebody rumored Turiaf would be on his way to Sac, i wouldnt mind seeing him and Smush here, i know im probably the only one, but it would have been interesting.

Even if that was true (and I'm not saying it was), it could not have been the whole deal as the salaries don't match, I don't think.

EDIT: This year: Vlad = $5.215 mil; Bibby = $12.5 mil

I wouldn't mind Turiaf, he's a big scrappy guy and Smush is pretty quick and athletic. I watch a few Lakers/Cavs games and the guy did pretty good and dunked on Snow when he coughed the ball up. I really would hope that trading Bibby to the Lakers would land us Odom, but he is more of their franchise side kick guy to of course Mr. Untouchable Kobie of course. The Lakers have a crew of bigs we could use as well. So why you hate to trade with the Lakers of all teams, you might want to if the right deal was there like Odom, otherwise there we go again with the multiple moveable pieces junk again like the Webber trade.

Yeah...I'm just going off what I read on here. People were discussing it...But didnt seem to inclined to believe it as truth.

Smush Parker stinks... He is AWFUL... He puts up decent numbers and to the NBA fan who doesn't watch many Laker games you may not know but this guy is straight u garbage. He makes cruicial turnovers, can't hit big shots, and can't play a lick of defense. Not to mention he's got the basketball IQ of a fifth grader. Vlad is out for 8 weeks with a separated shoulder! If Vlad and Smush were indeed the ones involved I'm glad this didn't go down...
