Bee: Marcos Breton article

did anyone read this yet? i thought he was trying to talk about how moving the oakland A's to Sacto would be a great idea, yet over & over & OVER again he keeps bashing the Kings and their threats to move out of Sacto.

i can't stand that guy... between Breton & Grassssswich ... grrrrr !

i would expect an article about MLB and a possible relocation of a team to not take its swipes at the Kings for things that up until this point have been repeatedly denied by every member/owner of the Kings.

run on sentence, but damn man .....

Uh, that wasn't an article about the A's. It's Breton's way of jabbing at the Maloofs. It's a joke because the city wouldn't get another pro team they let the Kings walk.

Even if we did have baseball, and the Kings were gone, I would not go watch baseball. The game is about as exciting as watching paint peel off the walls. No thanks.

I read the whole article twice, although I'm not really sure why.

Here's the link, BTW. http://www.sacbee.com/content/sports/story/12291737p-13155593c.html

(You now have to be registered at sacbee to read articles, which seems to be the norm for most online newspapers recently.)

I'm not going to quote his whole article because, as JB Kings pointed out, it's more of the same old same old bashing of the Maloofs that at least some Bee staffers seem to think is required at every opportunity.

There is an interesting section at the end, though, that pretty much summarizes it all:

We have a mayor who practically did back flips and had her political image trashed forever by trying to please the Kings' owners. We have a City Council that - as they say in sports - got pimp-slapped by the Kings' owners.

We have an esteemed sheriff who was a towering crime fighter but was embarrassed politically when he tried to do the Kings' bidding.

And now the richest guys in town are saying they will give the Kings - that's right, GIVE - the Kings $300 million to build an arena.

And it's not enough.

So let's talk turkey. You have stated that the A's will commit $100 million to a hopeless stadium deal in Oakland.

Why not wait for the Kings to bolt for the obvious greener pastures of - (fill in the blank) Oklahoma City, St. Louis, Anaheim, Las Vegas or Barstow - and then meld your cash with our local rich dudes?

That's $400 million - about what you estimate it will cost to build a stadium in hopeless Oakland.

Our land prices are still cheaper here; let's do it.

Don't get hung up on wondering why the Kings would ever leave Sacramento. Frankly, it doesn't make sense to us, either.

But apparently that's the threat, and one man's threat is another man's opportunity.

You won't regret it. We'll love you long time.

The MAIN POINT that Breton, Graswich and some of the other Bee hacks seem to continually forget, overlook, or simply lie about is that the Maloofs have NEVER said they were going to pull the team out of here. The only ones continually to sing that tired refrain are the above-mentioned "journalists" who put themselves above the facts.

They talk about supposed threats, etc. but can NOT give any real substance to those rumors.

Shame on the Bee and shame - again - on Marcos Breton.
