Banks to Cavs?

Think the Cavs would be a good fit for Banks. But they already have Snow/Jones/Brown (who will contribute right away) as small-guards. Then you have Gibson, who they have signed and like. Need to move Jones. Hope Banks finds a spot, as the Spurs/Lakers/Wolves all were recently eliminated. Houston/Denver would be other options for him, would definitely be liking the Rockets some more again (like for a good deal of 04-05) if they got my boy Banks. ;)

Beacon Journal - With the Lakers, Hawks and Wolves going in different directions with their cap room, it is looking like Marcus Banks' best option might be Cleveland, a team that remains interested in the guard.

``We're not talking much about it right now; the Cavs have some other priorities to deal with,'' Banks' agent, Michael Higgins, said Thursday. ``Marcus is interested in the Cavs; he likes Mike (Brown).''

Oh, I absolutely agree. But with Douby and Price here, it's not as good a possibility as the other teams for Banks. I think one of them could definitely be the back-up to Mike.

All part of back-up PG for us being up in the air until late Sept./October (unless we sign a guy with experience before then).

Banks actually IS a PG though, unlike our own little tweener guys. And also unlike them if Bibby ever went down we would have an actual reasonable starting replacement rather than a rookie tweener guard. Landing him late in the FA periood becuase everything else had dried up for him would actually be a minor coup. Can be a feisty defender too.

But that would be so many bodies in our backcourt, and it is hard to see why he would come into such a messy cluttered situation to backup an established guy like Mike rather than go elsewhere to get more min/starts. Cleveland keeps lookign for that shooter, but they possibly should just give it up and sign this guy. Young guy could grow with Bron and push the pace.

Agreed on both parts, Brick.

Actually heard he'd be working on his three pointer this summer, to extend his range. Since he already has a pretty good mid-range shot.

I reckon it would be just about perfect a fit for both parties. Banks is a good young prospect who plays very good D. I know Cavs are looking for that 3pt shooter to strech defeces but Banks isn't too shabby from the long range either.

Banks isn't a 3PT shooter yet, but he should be if he's working on that shot like was said a couple months ago.
He is no marksman by strech of the imagination but if he is open he can make the 3. He shot a pretty good .349 from beyond the arc this year. Thats not too shabby.
