My thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of all those killed or injured by a single gunman at the opening of The Dark Knight Rises. What the hell is wrong with people?

I could answer your question but it would be full of politics and sociological analysis which is not allowed here. We will continue to bury our heads in the sand and clean up the periodic messes.

It's absolutely terrible. We had a friend at the theater in Aurora - he's OK. Others went to the showing in Denver, but still, you can't possibly fathom how awful everyone here feels. I think the worst part is that the person who did it absolutely knew what he was doing. He knew it would be crowded, he knew it would be filled with people of all ages. The premeditation of it really pisses me off, more so than a random crazy dude who snapped...I don't know if that makes much sense.
It's been a ****ty summer for Colorado - hopefully the fall brings some peace.

Our own Mike Tavares (Mike0476) was tweeting late last night about going to the midnight showing at the Sacramento IMAX. When I first heard the news very early this morning, I didn't realize it had happened in Colorado and I was terrified that he might have been hurt. As horrific as this kind of stuff is, the idea someone I know might have been involved was even more upsetting. It was a roller coaster of emotions to find out that it hadn't happened in Sacramento but that so many innocent people had been killed or injured.

I could only speculate what is wrong with people, but it would be just that, only a speculation. Only the people who do that stuff know what the heck is wrong with them...I wanted to start my day off right, but woke up to the radio station talking about this...thoughts and prayers with all involved...

Absolutely tragic. It would help if there weren't more guns in the US than people, but we won't get into that. My thoughts are with the families of the victims.

My heart and my thoughts are with the family and loved ones of those who were killed or injured in Aurora, Co. I'm afraid there is no sense to it, so it's probably useless to expect any kind of rational answer to the question of why.

It has been a brutal year for Colorado, so my heart is with you Coloradans and fellow Americans. We stand with you and are ready to assist in any way that is possible.

I lost a very close friend on Wednesday. All of this just just reminds me to stop worrying or getting angry about the small things, stop wanting "things" period, hold my friends and loved ones close and spend as much time with the ones I love as I possibly can. Every moment is a precious gift.

Aurora is less than 25 miles from Columbine. Probably a coincidence but an eerie coincidence if that.
Man I remember when Columbine took place. I was concluding my 8th grade year, and looking forward to high school...That was absolutely insane....this not so much, but still pretty darn insane in its own right...
