When do tickets go on sale? My cubs are in town for the opening series and I want to go to all 3 games.
I don't know how many seats they're expecting to hold back for single-game sales, but we had a temp player on our softball team who works in the A's ticket office offering to move our teammate who had season tix in Oakland *up in the season tix line*. Demand may be very high, especially for the first series ever.

So basically if they win a World Series nobody gets to claim it. Are there any championships that don't belong to a city or state in some cases? They can at least call the team the Las Vegas A's, even if the stadium isn't ready yet.

The name Las Vegas A's (plus Las Vegas Athletics) are registered trade marks but.. in the end might not matter. Funding still not 100% guaranteed to build the stadium with three big public and private infusions of cash required as shown here. The third part reportedly pledged but not guaranteed by A's ownership Fisher family.
  • Public funds: Nevada lawmakers have pledged up to $380 million in public funds for the stadium. However, A's executive Sandy Dean has said that the team only plans to use $350 million of those funds.

  • Debt financing: U.S. Bank and Goldman Sachs are expected to provide a $300 million loan.

  • Investment from the A's owner and his family: A's owner John Fisher and his family are expected to invest $1 billion in the project.

Three years… for now.
Yeah, I know that the Vegas Stadium seems more vaporware than real right now, but I don't know how long MLB can afford to have a team play in a 14K capacity stadium. If Vegas falls through, somebody will have to step up, even if it's an existing venue. And there's no way Sac can build a full-size stadium in that time frame. Plus, public funding in Sac is rough, as we know.

I have a tough time seeing the A's stay permanently - if Vegas falls through I'm sure somebody with an existing stadium will snap them up.

The issue is that aside from Oakland, there’s not many cities out there with vacant MLB baseball stadiums to move to on a moments notice.

That is kind of a sticking point. My guess is that the chance that the A's go back to the Coliseum is zero. But from groundbreaking to built stadium in California would take so long that another locale could probably beat the timeline by a good margin (say, San Antonio/Austin? also Portland is trying to build a stadium pending a team).

I feel like Portland's stadium (excuse me, diamond) project is a grift. They actually now have their sights set on a lot right outside my office, including a signed letter of intent. I'm just not quite sure the hospital and med school are going to want a stadium in an area with almost zero parking right in the middle of their South Waterfront campus. Would make for fun splash zone potential though. But my thoughts are they have entered into this with the thought process of getting it far enough along that the university has no choice but to buy the land from them at which point they can play this game again with a different real estate holding.

They are going to build the stadium without a team whenever it does happen, their stated goal seems to be to actually wait until the A's have resolved and hope for an expansion team.

She's hot, she's single, she's out looking, and you'd make a great match. So swipe left and wait for somebody else to snatch her up in the hopes that in a few years you'll find someone half as good. Makes perfect sense.

If it gets done in time and the A's don't have a home we'll see but I do get the sense that Portland isn't the sort of town that wants to steal someone else's team. Probably also don't want to get in bed with Fisher who I am guessing would be a horrible fit here.

I also think the letter of intent they have they'd be lucky to break ground in 3 years. We are red tape city and just elected a whole new form of city governance with a bunch of anti-business representatives. If anything they'll go full YIMBY on housing, but I am not sure how a stadium project in what was once a planned mixed use district will go down.

Oh, I don't know about that....seems like there is a perfectly good hole in the ground that was started as a baseball diamond already there to use.
