Artest trade revisited...

A lot of fans were not happy to see Ron go. They thought the franchise had given up too much for too little in return. We saw the return of Bobby Jackson, who got to retire with the team in which he had his best years, and we got an unknown lanky young guy named Donte Greene, and a future first rounder who turned into Omri Casspi.

Watching Donte develop in his decision making and defense last season was satisfying. It's good to see a player improve and not just stay the exact same and never learn. But watching this summer league, it's even more satisfying to see Donte's outside shot becoming much more consistent.

Omri is still aggressive, although he is prone to being inconsistent. This wasn't uncommon for younger players, so I think with more experience, he will work it out.

Overall, the Kings added size, length, and talent. These two can possibly fill the SF position for years to come, and provide the Kings with much needed effort, shooting, size, and athleticism to compliment Tyreke and the load of bigs they have.

I've never regretted waving bye-bye to Ron. Wished him well, but not sorry to see him go.

I don't think many were complaning about the return we got for Ron Artest.
It was the returns we got for Brad Miller, John Salmons and Mike Bibby that were more than underwhelming.

The Ron Artest trade was very good for us. Ron was not the answer for us, and we really needed to rebuild, so he had to go. In exchange, we got Greene, a pick that became Casspi, and a rental of our very own Bobby Jackson. Really can't complain about that at all. If Donte or Casspi ever actually reach their potential (mostly Donte), this will go down as a lopsided trade in our favor.

Artest was bound to leave us one way or another. Besides him being a nut case, he was not an element for us in our rebuilding phase. Did I mention he's crazy? Getting rid of him was an addition by subtraction.
