Ya, I just got home from worked, and was gloomy all day b/c I thought we got ron ron. I couldn't read every post before expressing my happiness. On the down note, I still have Artest stuck on my fantasy team...someone better deal for him

That's not true, tyrant.

The teams agreed to a deal; it was sent to the league pending their approval. Then, while league approval was pending, Artest sent word to the Kings and the Pacers that he would not go to the Kings.

At that point, although Artest did not technically have a choice, the Kings decided not to pursue this any further and withdrew their offer.

That's on SportsCenter.

Jim Gray says chances are the Pacers will now suspend Artest.

I hope he ends up working at a grocery store.......

They are talking to Mark Monteith of the Indianapolis Star on KHTK right now. He is saying he talked to Joe Maloof tonight and they plan on talking tomorrow. So apparently this nightmare is NOT over.

no ****** way!

that sucks!

I think that everyone here is upset that our Kings are not doing so well this year and that we feel almost forced into this situation. Lets think about this again rationally. Peja is flopping/has injuries in his contract year. Ron Artest is a nutbar.

For those of you who knew this would happen, shut up.

For those of you who didn't think this would happen, wake up.

Ron is on one of his last straws. If he doesn't accept this trade, then he may not play basketball again, period.

At least we tried to make a trade. I agree that we may have shot ourselves in the foot on this one but it is a risk that you take 10 times out of 10.

Look what happened with T.O. We traded him to Baltimore, he didn't want to play for them, and then they traded him to Philly and got something for him.

If Indy doesn't want to send him to an east coast team that doesn't mean we can't.

I'm mad at this little pissant too but we need not get drawn into the media's games. Lets just wait for a REAL trade before we start going berzerk.

People are still talking about his personality and the stupid things he's done or doing, to put it bluntly, WHO CARES. We just need his contract. Peja could walk at the end of this year, and after this ordeal, the chances of that happening is even higher. Artest has a guaranteed contract with two years left before a player option. You can worry about him in the summer. Somebody, somewhere will want him. A perfect example would be us. Look at us; we tried to trade for Artest, even though we know he’s a volatile character.

BawLa - While I understand what you're trying to say, this is a message board. People come here to talk, to argue, to debate, to console with other fans about the current news of their team.

If you don't want to read all the stuff, you simply need to push away from the computer and go do something else.

If people didn't come here and express themselves we could just change the name to www.weonlytalkaboutfacts.com and we'd have probably four posts a year.

It's all cool...

;)

KHTK is confirming a Jim Gray report that the Kings--Geoff Petrie and the Brothers Maloof--will be meeting with Ron Artest tomorrow via phone conference.

Man, I've been on the wrong website all this time???!!!! No wonder I've been so confused. ;)

This deal is still a possibility. I think more so, because most peoople are of the thought, as am I, that Peja won't be good here now after this possible trade. The Maloofs and Petrie will meet tomorrow and I think this gets done. To save face, and because you can't have Peja back at this point. Peja's agent is saying you're crazy if you think you can see Peja in a Kings uniform again.

yeah...but its good to have a sense of humor, especially during these trying times. :)

i hope this thing gets resolved by the end of the week. my second semester at chico just started this week. and, as a quite literal die hard kings fan, this is a major distraction!

Much better to die hard than die easy though. Your fandom will sustain you through these trying times. ;)

yes! thats what being a dedicated fan is all about! if nothing else, things certainly have gotten much more interesting in kingsland the last coupla days, and are certain to remain interesting the rest of the season. i foresee peja being traded, for whom i have no idea, though, if the artest trade does fall through entirely. interesting, indeed...

Just because they are sitting down to talk doesn't mean that it won't be a three-way trade and someone besides Artest ends up here. At least I can hope that's the case, can't I?

Lord, I hope we don't get him in uniform....

three way trade between.. Artest, Peja & Kevin Garnett. We end up with KG, Pacers get Peja, and the Wolves... well, let THEM walk on the wild side for a while!:p

Wait. Let me see if I understand...

Ron Artest, when informed of the decision to trade him to Sacramento, made it abundantly clear that he would NOT play for the Kings. And, considering he's sitting on the sidelines INACTIVE on the Pacers because of repeated problems with his bosses, we have every reason to believe him.

So the Kings retract the offer. As in pull the plug rather than go through a prolonged drama of "will he show?" and "will he play?'

And now, you - DocHolliday - are disgusted with the Kings?

yeah, okay. And the reason we should have insisted on making Artest come to the Kings is because we don't already have enough drama going on? Our team really needs to be short a player while the nutcase decides what he's going to do? And we need to try and field a team while Artest sits there deciding what he's going to do? Did I miss something? When did this become the Indiana Artests or even the Sacramento Artests? Not even Kobe Bryant would have pulled crap like this...

Good lord.

Agreed. This a huge, giant freaking joke. I'm more disgusted with Artest than I was before, and that disgust is going to transfer right to the Maloofs and Geoff Petrie if Artest ends up here. I was thinking of giving up my tickets anyway, and this may be the straw that breaks the camel's back. It's bad enough to trade for this guy, but to even consider bringing him on board after he goes bipolar before the trade ever happens is just stupid. They're practically asking for the wrath of the fans on this one.

Bring me the sprained foot of Corey Maggette, or pretty much anyone other than Artest.

VF21 where is it abundantly clear he said this or are you going on hearsay. I have been reading actual Quotes from Artest all day in the Indy Star website and not one quote did he say this. In Fact he said that its not that he doesn't want to go to sac he just wants to sit with GP and other Kings front office. In fact the Indy star is reporting that every attempt by the pacers will be made to revive the trade in the morning.

Then quote from the Indy Star was...

Artest told The Indianapolis Star there was a possibility something still could happen.

"There's no deal," Artest told the newspaper by telephone. "It's not that I don't want to play there ... I'm letting my agent handle things. He's taken over things."

Artest told the Star he is not against a trade but would like to be involved in negotiations. "I just want to meet with team officials of whichever team I'm headed to," he said in a story posted on the newspaper's Web site. "I want to play, but I'm following the rules I have to follow. If I have to sit out, I sit out the season."

That sounds to me like he said he would not go, unless he got to meet with team officials first. What a cra*p thing to do to both the Pacers and the Kings. Like he's in a position to demand anything!? Further proof that Artest is not from this galaxy. Nobody in the deal had to talk to him, meet with him or ask his approval. If I was the Kings I would have said, whoa, too. He says he wants to meet first...what does that mean? Does he think he has some choice?

You're about 8 hours late to the party, Entity.

Hearsay is for legal trials. Reports were coming in all over from ESPN, various news outlets, etc. It was reported REPEATEDLY that Artest had announced that he would NOT play for Sacramento if the trade was concluded.

Your Indy Star stuff is all after the fact, and could be true or could be damage control. Considering we're all pretty much going on a wide variety of media reports, who is to say which ones are true and which are spin control? Just for the record, it wasn't the Indy Star that broke the little tidbit that the trade might be revived in the morning. They're simply reporting what others have already said.

And just so you know? There is NO valid reason for ARtest to want to sit down with the Kings or anyone else before this trade is made. He's not a part of the negotiations. He's property being traded between two owners. If you decide to sell your car to someone, do you ask your car for permission?

You just offended all the cars of this planet. I will have to apologize to my car for You tomorow. It has been running great for years and has never let me down. No profiling please;)
