Artest Approves Trade: No word from Kings (merged)

And so we'll possibly lose ANOTHER game directly because of Artest and his soap opera drama. I honestly think this might be the first time our franchise has lost a game because of someone who isn't even on the team yet.
Honeslty I think the Kings have played better with Peja off the floor. Francisco is doing a fine job. We would have wone last night if Brad didn't forget how to play basketball.

get used to it. I think if we really end up with Artest, we may see a whole lot of "firsts" around here... first time a player attacks a fan, first time a player takes a month off to work on his music... first time a player...you get the picture.

If anything else, I guess it won't be boring.

From a pure basketball standpoint the Kings are a much better team with Ron than they were with Peja. Also, the injuries to Peja and Bonzi have been great in the sense that it opened the door for Cisco and KM to flourish. Hopefully, when Bonzi gets healthy and the kids go back to the bench they can be that much better.
Bibby
Bonzi
Artest
Reef
Miller
Looks good on paper, but we all know how that goes.

Agreed. I think the team was a little shocked yesterday about all that transpired. I think you will see a different team tonight and hopefully they can pull this out. Artest can take his physical tomorrow(if this goes through) and then he can play on Friday(depending on when Peja takes his physical and I hope he doesn't pull a Doug Christie and cry for 3 days before getting it done).

But we still need to trade for a starting big that could block shots and rebound.

I'm sure the Kings, Pacers, AND the league had this conversation with Ron. It COULD work out well for us...then again, it could blow up in a large fiery explosion right in front of our eyes.

I don't know how I feel yet. I'm eager for a change, but I do regret how this went down.
Yeah. If it doesn't work we could probably get the league to suspend him. No other team is going to want his headaches.

Also, Artest is at least an order of magnitude more difficult than Bonzi. He's also at least an order of magnitude a better player.

That would be nice, but I don't know where we are going to get someone like that and I really think that with Peja now gone (maybe) that there is a commitment to Brad and Mike.

Still unbalanced. But better. Still too many guys who want and need to score. Need one of those names swapped out for a hustling defensive roleplayer, preferably up front, and then we are talking.

I am not advocating this, just as an example. Say you traded Reef for Chandler.

Bibby
Bonzi
Artest
Chandler
Miller

Now you're beginning to talk. Although of course any foundation with Artest in it may be a foundation of sand.

I think if anything this trade shows that NO ONE is untouchable. I mean Peja was Petrie's golden boy. I think you keep bibby, but you find away to get rid of Brad. Maybe a Brad, Corliss, Price or Hart package.

I'd love a guy like Dalembert or some such patrolling the middle.

I'll give up Miller and coffee for a guy like that.

If a year ago at this time if someone would have told me that Bonzi Wells and Ron Artest would be on the Kings I never would have believed it.

Of course, if someone had told me that all of the "moveable" pieces would still be on the roster and we would be in last place in the Pacfic I wouldn't have believed that either!

Forget messing with the starting 5, I would take care of that bench, specifically KT, now that hes had plenty of playing time, his stock might be up a bit. I'd throw in another player to get a good 6th man whos willing to come off the bench.

brad miller is an interesting specimen. for his size, his rebounding and defensive skills are horrendous. however, his offensive skills are rather exceptional, especially at his position. brick mentioned trading reef for a guy like tyson chandler. play chandler and miller as a c/pf combo, and all of a sudden, miller's defensive woes are masked a bit. i like brad miller because he's very capable of scoring when he wants to, but he doesn't need to score. he doesn't demand the ball. bonzi, bibby, and reef are all guys who wanna score.

miller
chandler
artest
wells
bibby

this would be a formidable lineup, though one without a true leader still. i like the idea of miller orchestrating the offense from the high post with artest and wells cutting to the basket, and bibby providing perimeter offense as well as his ability to draw and kick, and pick and roll. a guy like chandler would just have to rebound like a madman, and play some interior defense. artest and wells can take care of our perimeter defensive problems, and the kings are a lock for the playoffs, and with a coupla bench tweaks, are very close to championship contender status again. i'm not saying tyson chandler (with his rather outrageous contract) is necessarily the interior guy we want, but i think a player like him would make this team more complete, and much more balanced.

this, of course, provides that artest doesn't blow up. ;)

No no GM -- not "moveable", its "FLEXIBLE". As in we have the flexibility to not move them.

Do not question the master plan. ;)

No a big would be on my wish list next, and i would rather trade brad for it too because shareef is the only one that could score in the post. We can't have everyone shooting jumpers.

don't forget flexibility to not play them. Obviously Petrie, in his wisdom, felt like the Kings needed some more cheerleaders on the bench, so he conspired with Adelman to get some players so that they could NOT play.

I still hope Maloofs will say "You rejected us yesterday,we are rejecting you today"!
But that won't happen...
Faith dies in the end so,Peja is still a King for me
If the Maloofs accept this trade, I hope Peja decides he doesn't want to play in Indiana.......

Brad those not score when he whats to, he mostly gets his shoots off wide open jumpers. We are moving away form the princeton off game by game, which makes Brad the weakest link because his game is more like a pg not a real big. I would much rather trade him for a def big then sar.

Peja's too much of a professional for that. If the trade goes through I wish Peja the best of luck in Indiana & hope that he choses to remember the bright points of his career in Sac rather than the cr*ppy last two days.

One thing for sure ....

the definition of KING'S BASKETBALL is getting a face-lift !!!!!
King’s basketball does exist any more (last two years) as unique way of playing this game...with new player and probably new coach we will end up playing grab-hold defense with very predictable offense...but outcome might be better...who knows
