So if he hits one more three last night is he good again? Small sample size man. I think people are going to respect your opinion more on this if you check back in 10 games with a more nuanced critique.4-11

He’s on a great contract also. WHEN his shot returns this season (which it clearly will eventually) if he continues to play this current all around play he is one of our best trade chips for an upgrade for a wing 3 and d stopper as well. Here's the thing with Kevin Huerter: if he continues to give effort as a defender and rebounder and rounds back into form as a shooter, who are the Kings going to acquire that's a better fit than Huerter in the starting unit? His frenetic off-ball activity and the gravity he can create in the two-man game with Domas is not insignificant, even when he's failing to hit shots.
Or we could think of it this way: is there a greater likelihood that Huerter plays up to his median as a shooter or that the Kings are able to find a replacement that generates even half as much gravity for the Kings' offense?
Funnily enough, he's doing everything so well that people complain about him mostly for; defense is great, rebounding is great, passing is great.
4th on the team in APG
3rd!! on the team in RPG
He has 2 turnovers total this season
Once the shooting regresses back to normal, he'll be on pace for another career season if he can hold these ancillary stats up
We've got to wonder if Brown demanding more defense and physicality from his players is effecting Huerter's 3 point shooting. Especially since he has the added pressure knowing that he and Barnes are the only potentially interchangeable pieces on the starting 5.
Huerter has definitely answered Brown's call for more defense and physicality, let's hope his shot returns to form once he settles into this change in physicality.

Because he is expending too much energy on defense or another reason?
I think Kevin is just a bit too sensitive to the outside opinions about his play. I think he is feeling the pressure of underperforming and its in his head as much as anything else. He needs to keep up the improved D, and keep moving and cutting on offense. I think he will be fine in a couple weeks.

Why would you trade him if his shots return and he keeps the all-around play? Wouldn't be that an upgrade we've been looking for? He’s on a great contract also. Or else any decent defensive wing 3 upgrade will cost a fortune and our depth. Our depth is what keeps the juice flowing.

To me, it seems like the current core is solid, but not really contender level IMO. Not unless Keegan takes a major step forward and becomes a consistent 2nd/3rd option and gets to a borderline all star level.
It just seems like for the team to take a bigger step forward, there has to be an upgrade to Huerter or Barnes or both. They’re obviously both solid players, but if the Kings can somehow swing a trade to get in a two-way stud at the 2 or 3 spot, that’s how we’re going to get to the next level. Huerter seems like probably the easiest spot to upgrade at this point.
Another stinker.
Can we make one of these “Are we going to acknowledge how bad ____ has been” pages for HB and Duarte?
If HB doesn’t step up soon, one of Sasha and a returning Lyles gonna take his minutes and his starting spot.
I think Duarte has lost his opportunity. I think Brown is going to turn to Keon and Colby Jones to take his minutes.
