Are we going to acknowledge how bad Huerter has been?

It is telling that his misses are so badly off. No in-and-outs, no "almosts", but rather near air-balls, clanks, and bricks.

His head is not right and would very likely benefit from a new opportunity on a different team. Just remember how hotly he started with the Kings last season with a fresh outlook. I wish him well.

For me, his inability to shoot right now is less of a problem than what’s happening on defense. Teams are exploiting him at every opportunity, switching until they get the matchup they want with Huerter defending. It’s hurting us even worse with him all of a sudden not being able to hit anything consistently, but make no mistake, the real and most significant problem is on the other side of the court. There’s no fixing that.

KVon has been so bad that everyone is cashing in their receipts on a 12pts on 12 field goals attempted game lol
I mean, using his shooting stats is damn silly for his game last night. Dude was great on D, got after it on the boards and while he wasn't efficient, had a few huge buckets in crunch time and OT.

We need efficient KVon back, but last night's game was far more about how good he was in the other facets of the game.

I thought he had a decent game but I still felt like it was average when you took the good and the bad. He had some nice blocks, some manly rebounds, hit his 3s and hit a clutch shot. On the other hand he let a bunch of guys score easily on him and missed a handful of point blank shots at the rim. He looks to me like he kind of has the yips.

Problem is, this funk isn’t just 3 games to start off the season. His shot has been erratic at best (mostly off) since before the all-star break last season (I demonstrated this in another thread despite misleading stats to the contrary). It continued into the postseason and now is continuing to start this season.

That’s concerning and certainly worthy of discussion.

I agree with the coach giving him some more time early in the season to figure it out. But if he doesn’t come around relatively soon, it’ll be time to do what’s right for the team.

We are not privy to practice sessions but he must shoot lights-out in the gym for the coach and staff to hang with him this long. Coach Brown and his assistants are not dummies or incompetent. Something is there that they see and we can't.
They will always tread lightly with a player like this on that type of contract, so as not to downgrade their value. McNair will trade him, if he finds an acceptable deal that he believes will improve the team

The free throw shooting is an example of this. For a talented shooter like him to continue to shoot a lower % from the line...something is off. Oddly, he's the last one I'd want at the line in a clutch situation, among our top 9 players

Why are people talking about trading Huerter after he, along with Monk, is why we closed that game in OT? Mostly on the back of his excellent defense and rebounding?

Because it was one game out of what I consider not a small sample size for his poor play.

You consider what I consider from last year and last years playoffs and this year a small sample size, and we get it, but not everyone agrees with that.

Agree to disagree and leave it at that.

I mean... no.

I'm going to continue to call out the nonsense that Huerter has been bad over a large sample of games. He was bad bad in the playoffs. He had a great regular season overall. Of course he had ups and downs, like every non-star role player goes through over the course of the season. But in totality; he was awesome.
