April schedule

piksi

Hall of Famer
I know that it is very early to talk about it but looks like our Aprils are getting worse every year

@ Cleveland
Minnesota
Seattle
@ Portland
L.A. Lakers
@L.A. Lakers
@ Phoenix
@ Utah
Phoenix

Basically there are only 2 realy easy games and sure W :D .

Somebody must realy hate us up there

Au contraire, mon piksi...

You WANT tough competition going into the playoffs, to hone your skills and make sure you're at the top of your game.

An easy April could lull the team into a false sense of security...

:D

How well do You remember last April ?

What's your point?

You cannot compare last year's team and their performance in April to this year's team. Well, you can, but it's not relevant.

What?!?!?!?!?!

You commented about a tough schedule at the end. I replied. Why are you bringing last year and now game 7 into the discussion?

The Kings have a habit of playing UP or DOWN to the level of their competition. Personally, I would much rather see them playing GOOD teams as they approach the playoffs because that keeps them on their toes.

If you ask me we played pretty well during the playoffs last year considering our short bench and a Webber not even close to the Webber of now. Maybe last april's schedule was the kick in the *** we needed to do as well as we did.

I don't know if I'm being misunderstood but I'll clarify...

When you have a HEALTHY team near the end of the season, especially with a team like the Kings, you do NOT want to have a bunch of easy opponents. The team tends to get into bad habits when they face teams they can easily defeat.

Last year was an aberration all the way around. Working Chris back into the line-up was mandatory by most accounts. The teams we faced were secondary to getting our PF back into something resembling the PF we needed for the playoffs. The schedule wasn't the main point...

I still have no problems at all with that schedule because I think if the Kings are in the hunt at all, they'll be facing at least a couple of those teams in the playoffs. Nice to face them at least once in that general time frame, if for no other reason than to study and find out what will work and what won't.

I agree. The team should be starting to peak (hopefully) about that time, and it really is better preparation for the Play offs to play teams that challenge you.

As long as we still have our health coming into the playoffs. On the plus side, few of the final games of the season will be meaningless, all them teams being in the playoffs, we're going to have a chance to influence the ladder.

Its too early to start judging April, in my opinion.

Por ejmplo, as great as Phoenix and Seattle are playing right now, I don't know that they'll be at the same threat level in a few months that they are now.

I think they're good teams, certainly playing good -- and exciting -- basketball to start the season, but I'm skeptical as to how long it will last. Definitely not predicting a total collapse, but c'mon, its Seattle and Phoenix.

We always have a tough April. Seems like every division title contender has a tough final month, every year.

April, heck. I mean it'z a good thing that we are beating up on the games we should be winning - something that has been lacking in the past. The FEB schedule is brutal.

1-30 @ Minn
2-1 (travel) home, Seattle (great homecourt advantage after flying some three hours)
2-2 back to back @ Golden State
2-4 NY
2-5 back to back travel to Portland
2-8 phoenix
2-10 @ seattle
2-11 back to back home against Dallas
2-13 cross country @ Boston
2-15 cross half country @ Chicago
2-16 cross half country back to New Jersey for a back to back
memo to NBA, why not Boston, New Jersey, then Chicago?
5 day rest, so get ready!
2-22 Atlanta
6 game road trip
2-24 @ Dallas
2-26 @ Philly
2-27 @ Washington
3-1 @ Charlotte
3-2 @ Orlando
3-4 @ Miami

Folks, datt ain't an easy month of play!

That's really a dangerous attitude to have. Looking ahead has been the downfall of a LOT of NBA teams over the years...

You take care of business as it comes. You don't look past anything.

Before the brawl in Detroit, I bet Indiana was feeling pretty good about their upcoming schedule, too...

I wouldn't criticize piksi for being over-optimistic....

OMG - You're right! I think I'm afraid, however. There are certain things in the universe you count on: The sun rises in the east, Bobby Jackson will say "Most definitely" at least once in an interview AND piksi will be pessimistic.

I guess I was blinded. Did the sun come up in the west today, too???

;)

the sun rises in the east????????? and that was a "oh yeah, most definitely"

All is I knows is diss - prognosticators, myself included, should not bet! Second, in my opine, other than Houston early on, the Kings this year have won every game they should. This is a HUGE change from the past - and a damned good sign early on. Don't care when the win ugly, don't care about player grades. Itza team game. No lethargy, win when you should. High energy, give yourself an even chance against a well matched opponenet - well, why not feel good?

Gotta say it, after 20 years. I think I like this squad the best!
