Anyone think we'll miss Singletary?

Suns.

I really liked the guy and hope he sees some PT behind Nash, don't think he's played yet this season though. Guess I'm still mad about Udrih getting the MLE more than anything.

He's with Phoenix now. It seems like every year there is a new player that KingsFans.com forum members slobber over. The last couple of years it was Justin Williams who I believe isn't even in the league anymore and now it's appartently Singletary.

The answer is no, we won't miss him. He's not that good.

Neither was a young Gerald Wallace.

Wallace's potential was evident even as a young player; the reasons why he didn't get playing time here are still a subject of debate at times (mostly by me), but there's no question that he was also behind two very good players in the rotation (Stojakovic, Turkoglu). Singletary's situation is not particularly comparable.

Obviously they aren't comparable because Wallace saw playing time while on the Kings. Singletary has yet to play. I won't be surprised at all to see Singletary show the same flashes of potential on the Suns in limited minutes that Wallace showed on the Kings. And I wouldn't be surprised to see Singletary have a much more successful career than Brown. But hey, we won't know the outcome of that for years so its all just speculation right now.

Exactly. And no matter what, he will probably be a backup player at best. We dont need nice little roleplayers on this team. Our whole team is full of those kinds of players along with out two borderline all stars. What this team needs...is a franchise player.

Extremely well said! NO MORE Sean Singletary or Justin Williams! PULEEEZZZ!!

I've never understood why so many naive Kings fans GO GAGA over these virtually nameless, useless scrubs. Singletary is likely destined for the D-league or at best an overseas B-Ball career. He was a late 2nd round pick that most thought would go even later or not even drafted at all. Of course, JW had his chance in Sac and basically blew it by getting arrested and never progressing beyond his completely one dimentional self. Meanwhile, THE REAL DEAL, rookie JT, is coming into the league with his FAR superior talent, multiple skills, drive, and determination. Continuing to go giddy over a Sean Singletary or Justin Williams is rather pathetic IMO - like grasping for straws or begging for a crumb after years of starving fan frustration in Sactown.

I fail to see any "giddyness" or "slobbering".

Our backups right now are Bobby and Bobby. Is it so far fetched to think Singletary could have provided better service?

Like i said, useless backups mean nothing to us right now. We are just fine in the roleplayer/back-up department.

This team sucks, didn't feel like joining in on the fire Theus thread after a weeks worth of play so I thought I'd gripe about Beno. It is going to be a long season.

Sucks, eh? You need a little perspective.

The Kings aren't going anywhere (record-wise) with this youth right now. If they do, Theus is coach of the year. I'm looking at this much as I've looked at summer league and pre-season. That is, what I'm interested in is the improvement of the youth and the evaluation of their skill sets. So far, I'm high on what JT and Hawes can bring - that's a pretty solid frontline for the future. Are they All-Stars? Way too early to decide.

I'm not looking at this in terms of wins and losses. Not this year.

Beno's another story. He's had a rough start to the year, for sure. But to assume that Singletary would have been better is foolish. Yes, he has more upside. Why? Because he was a 2nd round draft pick - a flier, at best. You have loads of "upside" at the bottom of the draft. Maybe the term you were thinking of was "unproven commodity". Either way, he's gone. Move on. If Beno continues at this pace, he will be a stop-gap, an intermediary until his replacement is drafted. Worst case scenario, we have a reliable backup signed for the MLE. Not bad.
BTW, Bobby Brown > Singletary, based on what I've seen, dunking mishaps aside. This position won't fix itself this year, unless Brown blossoms.

We may well end up missing him, but he was part of the cost of unloading Artest, which was a far bigger concern. I wasn't wild about letting him go either, but would I have let that kill the deal? Not a chance.

Wait, we are still talking about the Phoenix Suns' 12th man/doughnut run gofer right?

Yes, I am deeply hurt by his absence. Devastated even. No idea how we'll ever get past it.

P.S. I'll know whether I have fallen out of love with Beno when I finally see him show up this season. If you've seen him around, would you mind terribly telling him the season has started and sending him our way? Thx.
