Anyone remeber Elston Turner?

Many people have been lauding Scott Brookes and Mark Iavoroni as assistants who deserve to be head coaches. What do you think about the kings promoting their old #2 coach?
 
There are few, if any, assistant coaches that I'd want to throw into the current mess. I think that Turner was good enough that I'd be happy to have him back as assistant again.

However, after Adelman's contract wasn't renewed, and all the old coaching staff let go, I understand that Turner made a public statement to the effect that management had made an idiotic decision which they would regret. While I am tempted to give him bonus points for truth and accuracy, in practice he is unlikely to be offered another job at Arco.
 
I again have to ask, as I did last year, what did Elston Turner EVER do to prove to anyone he was a #1?

Nothing. Never felt like a #1, acted like a #1, had a rep like a #1. Was really just kind of a caretaker top assistant after Rick lost his logntime friend/top assistant...name escapes me at the moment? Think he left after '05?

And Brooks has one season as the top assistant to a failed coach in a failed regime that lose its players early on. He might be a head coach one day, but its a huge gamble to entrust a stumbling franchise to him right now -- if he falls on his face, the franchise faceplants right with him.

Iavaroni is the only one fo the three with the long resume of being groomed by the best for an eventual #1 spot.
