Am confused. That link takes you to a "Rise Together" spot for the Thunder (which also labors under some cheesy voiceover work -- what happened to the great classic voiceover guys?)
Was that what you were aiming for for a comparison ot the Kings "Here We rise" video? Or were you trying to link to the Here We Rise thing and just missed?
P.S. As an aside, just went to check out herewerise.com and they have changed up that vid a bit and added a new ending with a picture of the big banner on that building in West Sac. Its still not terribly moving, but its less cheesy now. An improvement.
Doesn't bother me one bit.
I saw the picture on the building in west Sac that Bricks mentioned. It looks pretty cool IMO.
How about the fact that OKC did "Rise Together" earlier in the year. Does that strike you as terrifficly uncreative?
Yes. I wonder if it was an intentional steal of the general idea or that no one actually checked to see there was another similar ad campaign? How about the fact that OKC did "Rise Together" earlier in the year. Does that strike you as terrifficly uncreative?
What, because two different teams, both of which believe their fortunes are on the way up, both used the word "rise" in a promotional campaign? Seriously, it seems like quite a needless knock on our team. Promotional campaigns rarely turn out to be considered 50 years down the road as outstanding examples of period art, I don't see why you would expect this to be any different.
Actually, I disagree with that. Fans held on to their love for that old team. We had our ripped out. I think it was more than time enough to move on. That doesn't mean forget, but to place that team amidst other cherished memories. That's why I think Webber's and Divac's jersey retirement last year was good timing.Yes. It's the use of the word "rise". That combined with the fact that it's OKC and was done well before the Kings did theirs. I don't expect an "outstanding example of period art", but I do expect more than a bad imitation of another franchise.
Could I do better; I think so. The Kings were terrible, then they were amazing for a few years. Not only that, the "good" team, played with a high level of charisma. They were "good", but they were more than that. They were exciting. Once we traded Webber, we were pretty much forgetful though Bonzi and Artest did provide some excitement for a short bit there. In any case, it's been rough for a while. I'd play on the emotional attachment to that wonderful team. "The Kings are back". Mix highlights of our dream team with the highlights of the new team. Reke ROY, drafting DMC. Basically, acknowledge that we've been fielding an inferior product, but that's a thing of the past.
How bout "Ascension?"
ascension is formal, alluding to our "royal" title. It also alludes to "Ascending the throne" (kings, throne, title, championship) without being too in your face and corny about it.
It's harder to fit on a banner, though.
How about: "Kings!, F-Yeah, fight'n for the m'f'n day yeah"
It's harder to fit on a banner, though.
Yes. Of course, there could be quite a few people would need a dictionary to figure out what "ascension" means.Jus' tryin' to class up the joint, Captain.![]()
