Even though he doesn't seem to possess jump out of the gym hops, he seems to have adequate hops, because he is a consistent finisher around the hoop. Also someone else mentioned the 6'11" wingspan. He dont gotta jump that high, he can reach up and dunk it at will. The way he is playing there will be all kinds of scrutiny of his jumper, dunks, and dribbling. I think the kid is a great athlete. He doesn't seem to get tired even when he's on an extended run. He seems to make jumpers when he's fresh of the bench and at the end of the game. I guess the Hops are not going to be "Dunk Contest Winner" hops, but most of those dunk contest winners turn out to be average players in the league with the exception of Jordan of coarse.
He can bring the ball across half court, set up the offense, they clear one side for him to operate, and he takes his man to the rack and he either scores, gets fouled, or dishes to a wide open shooter for an easy basket. Game one they were double teaming this kid! I haven't seen a point guard that can stay in front of him one on one yet. Even Chris Paul could not stay in front of him. He has electric speed, when combined with his length gets him to the hoop for a score more often then not. He is an awesome player !! I am excited about Tyreke and his upside, He is gonna get better!
When he and his team mates have played together for 20 or so games, he is going to be able to deliver some dimes that will be on ESPN Sportscenter. If you are open he will get you the ball. I thought he did well has PG, but he has more freedom to score at the 2. Him and Beno have played great together. Beno has stepped up his game too. So has JT and Nocioni. Tyreke is infectious! He is a player that makes the players around him better. Those kind of players are few and far between. I think we all can agree that Petrie picked the right guy. If only Young Hawes could step up his game the Kings would be set for the season. Hawes still has to figure out a few things in the post. Hawes needs to stop with the threes and and get some rebounds and put backs.
