Any word from Bobby?

I know I won't. I am even changing my name (soon).

Your "name" is well etablished here and there is no real reason to change it. Bobby might be gone but he will always stay a part of something that was pretty great. Some things about being a fan - really suck.

Bobby Jackson will have a career game the first time he faces the Kings and we will get to see how good Bibby really is (or is not).

We already know how good Bibby is. Bibby's worth won't be determined by how he plays in a regular season game against Bobby.

bobby jackson is a class act. it saddens me to see him go since i thought he was a major factor in the kings' success. who knows what would've happened had he not been injured the last two seasons. maybe he could still be here. when he was playing he was my favorite player. there wasn't anything he couldn't do. i though when he played along with bibby we were unstoppable. how he made so many amazing drives to the basket in the dallas series of 2002 is something i will never forget. i wish him the best!!

Thank you, piksi, but the decision has been made and the name has been chosen. Trust me!

same here......

just let us know its you 6th, when you post with the new one :D

I will certainly let everyone know. In fact, I am guessing that you will be able to tell.

The when depends on our administrator. I have asked that my name be changed on August 11th (or before if necessary to Admin). Aug 11th is my birthday. It is also my 3rd anniversary of KingsFan.com membership.

Also my brother's birthday. ;)

You think that You know but we don't know. We don't know what kind of season will Bibby have without Webber. We might realize that we let a better player go here or more compleate player. You will not because Bibby is the only Kings player You ever heard of but most of the KINGS fans (who remember Bobby's performances when Mike was out in 2003) might see yet again the "6th man" we once had. If Bobby starts and stays healthy he is at least as good as Bibby minus "clutch" plus defense, athleticism and 1 on 1 play.

That's an awful lot of "mights"... and what exactly are you trying to prove? That Bobby Jackson is better than Mike Bibby?

I loved Bobby and what he brought to the team but the very things that he brought to the team are the things that made him a liability... his reckless abandon; his conviction that he was, in fact, a power forward and should be in there banging with the big guys, and his inability to go anything other than 200 mph with his hair on fire... (phrase stolen from "Top Gun.")

Bobby missed huge hunks of the last three years because of injuries. If you accept the premise behind Vlade's departure, the trade of Doug Christie and the trade of Chris Webber, you have to accept the same premise when it comes to Bobby.

I totally agree with Piksi that it might be a possibility^, but I'll be much more interested in the possibility of Bobby having a better more productive season than Bonzi, which is a definate possibilty IMO.

Once again, however, you'll be comparing apples and tortillas.

IF Bobby has a productive season as a starter with the Grizzlies, it won't mean he would have been as productive off the bench for the Kings. And, in reverse, if he isn't able to do well, it doesn't mean he wouldn't have done well with the Kings.

If Bonzi doesn't have a productive season with the Kings (something which I do NOT think will happen), you can't compare that to what might have happened on the Grizzlies because there was little chance he would have stayed there. He would almost certainly gone somewhere else.

The idea of judging how someone might have done had they stayed put is interesting, perhaps, but it doesn't really mean anything. It's an exercise in "what if" and that's always purely subjective in nature.

Bobby is gone. Just like Webber is gone. Christie (at least for now) is gone. Vlade is gone. Jon is gone. Jason is gone. Scot is gone. Hedo is gone. Gerald is gone. JJ is gone. Tag is gone. Damon Jones is gone. Mateen Cleaves is ... well, I think you get the idea.

I agree with your point in principle, but it's not like Bobby doesn't have a track record. If Bobby contributes a lot to a playoff push and maybe even a 1st round win this year for the Grizz and Bonzi comes in and plays selfish, poisons the team on and off the court and disappears when we need him most, I think you can compare those 2 scenarios. Bobby hasn't been healthy the last 2 years because of freak injuries. We all know how productive Bobby was, even coming of the bench as our 6th man when he was healthy, and how much that meant to our teams winning %. If he stays healthy all year for the Grizz, and has a similar impact, and Bonzi does not then you compare accordingly. It's not like it's going to be hard to measure a healthy Bobby against a Healthy Bonzi if you've been watching the Kings for the past few years, we all saw Bobbys numbers when he had to start for us. Even if he came off the bench for us next year as long as he stayed healthy, he would have a huge impact... he always did. Don't even get me started on what Bonzi has ALWAYS done in his career. Again a lot of if's and a lot of mights, but we'll see.

Jon Barry, Lawrence Funderburke, Doug Christie, Vlade Divac, and Bobby Jackson are basically irreplaceable as human beings. This trade stuff is getting old. We are probably going to lose anyway, why not keep guys you like?

I know the answer, don't bother.

:(

Bobby has also had injuries the past THREE years. He broke his face when he hit it with Shaq's fist. He had the hand injury. He had the abdominal strain. He had the wrist injury that required surgery.

You have to factor in the probability of him being injured again for the Kings. It's not like the Kings are immune to injuries or anything...

Yeah it's higly likely Bobby would have gotten injured in a freak gardening accident 3 weeks into the season anyways...

--He did play with the broken face though. Dam Bobby had heart, he will be sorely missed.

KP - So in essence you're comparing the best possible scenario for Bobby in Memphis and opposing it with the worst possible scenario for Bonzi here in Sacramento?

...

...

Yes, Bobby will be sorely missed but... The King is gone; long live the King.

You don't think its a real possibility? Like I said, we will see. + he was traded a few days ago, I don't think it's too late to discuss the validity of the trade or the potential fallout... at least until the first ball is tipped off next year.

I think it's way too EARLY to discuss the validity of the trade.

I'm wondering if anyone's heard any comments on the trade from Bonzi? I'm curious to hear how he feels about the move...

Nobody told him yet so he does not know;)

For whatever it's worth his agent did say something to the fact that Bonzi is very happy to be coming to Sac, and that it is one of the places he had hoped(before the trade) that he would be dealt to.
