Interesting that Dalembert, who was obviously not good enough for us, is putting up the type of number he was putting up for us after the all-star break last year. In his last 5 games he is averaging 15 points, 13 rebounds and 2 blocks while his team went 5-0 in those games and 6-1 in the last 7.

Funny how much difference a player like Dalembert makes to a team that has something resembling structure but he was not good for us....you know the goaltending and all

Dalembert as starter this season:

28.0min 10.7pts (.647FG) 9.4reb 0.6ast 0.9stl 1.7blk

Outside of being exactly perfectly what we need up front next to Cousins he's been terrible.

For years and years I have pointed out that Geoff has never valued that style of player, and by not valuing that style player has assured himself of never winning anything (as well as helping assure that this will be the SEVENTH straight year we finish in the bottom half of the league in defense). That's what you get I suppose when you make a high scoring softass guard a GM. My only hesitation on calling him on having made a disastrous mistake here is just the question of who moved away first. Because there's plenty of cloudiness on this one as to whether Geoff did the big stupid, or in his case the little stupid again, or whether Daly never really wanted back, because there were plenty of indicators that way as well. It doesn't have to be Geoff's fault on this one. But given the history it certainly would be no surprise if it was.

if we had Sammy and Beno still, no Salmons, just draft jimmer at 7 instead of 10, we would be so much better right now. maloofs cheaped out IMO.

I would have taken Leonard at the 7th, or Knight. We would have this team right now...

Reke / Beno / IT
MT23 / Reke / Garcia
Leonard / Garcia / random veteran FA
Cousins / Hickson
Dalembert / JT

I think we would look much much better...

Oh c'mon now! Beno just flat our sucked because he could not guard a chair and Dalembert had a million goaltends in one quarter! ;)

We cheaped out BIG TIME! We had the makings of a play off team towards the end of last season. All we needed to do was keep our key free agents, sign a small forward veteran to bring it all together as the glue guy and make sure we draft a player that fits in well and fills a need.

The very sad story in all this is that we could have done that for just as much money as we spend this off-season. Fact is Dalembert would have been significantly cheaper than we paid him last year and the difference in his salary just about makes up for Thornton's extension and we would still have a lot of money to play with to get that SF to bring it all together.

There are 2 things that will always keep a rebuilding team in as a perennial lottery rebuilding ream:

1. Keep making poor selections in the draft (Jury is still out with Jimmer but with Reke and Cousins we picked the right players)
2. Blow your cap space on players that don't fit and are not different makers (and boy have we done that this off-season and done it in spades)

that line up would be nasty defensively.
