Things change quickly when the trade deadline is fast approaching, but the consensus from this morning is that Ron Artest isn't going anywhere. According to several league sources, the Kings had recent talks with Denver and Houston pertaining to the...

I guess my dream of having Ben Gordon won’t be happening. He’s young and I personally don’t mind giving him an extension if he shows that he fits with this team...And for some reason I don’t think that Ron is going to opt out this summer.

Make my dream come true Petrie. Ron Artest for Ben Gordon and a draft pick.

Sorry man, just don't think there's a chance for Ben and a pick! Still, there are other deals out there that could benefit us in the long run. Unfortunately, I have an icky feeling that Ron will still be a King next week.

I honestly don’t want garbage and so far, everything that I’ve heard is basically garbage and a pick. I said that I want some value for Bibby but I didn’t care what we get for Ron. But since we didn’t get anything spectacular for Mike, I don’t want an ender and a draft pick for Ron.

I know I’m probably in the minority but I love young SG. Ben might be a guy similar to Kevin, but I think he can contribute to this team, probably much better than Salmons (with Ron gone we can move John to the starter position and Ben off the bench). Plus, it seems that Ben is going to take the Bulls one-year tender offer and become an unrestricted free agent in 09. I’m with you, I don’t think that Ron’s going to opt-out. So I think, what do we have to lose? Both guys are probably staying with their teams and people are desperate to ship Ron out, so why not take a risk. And if Ben stays and we’re not happy with him, I’m sure they’ll be other teams that might want to trade for him before the next deadline.

Btw. I’m not a “man”

I'm not disagreeing with you on Ben, my point is I just don't think that offer would be on the table. If a good young SG like Gordon was on the table, it certainly would be the best offer, no doubt about it.

PS sorry about the "man" thing, force of habit :D

Oh. Sorry about that, it was just a little misunderstanding. I heard from Sam that the Bulls were interested in Ron so I thought maybe we could do a swap. But from what I’ve been reading lately, it doesn’t seem that many offers are for Ben. So yeah, you’re probably right, we probably aren’t going to get him. I guess it’s just a wish I had.

It’s all good, I don’t mind unless you really mean I’m a man. lol

Ben gordon is a one dimensional chucker. You cant trade artest who is called a chucker for someone even worse. The bulls are trying very hard to trade been from what i have heard but no one is interested.

Well, I think people have interest in Gordon just as Gordon. Problem is that he is going to ask for $12mil next season, and so you have to an extra $9mil available just to resign him and he's not such a great deal anymore. Actually a similar issue to the one we are fracing with Ron, who is looking to double his paycheck next year.

Here’s how I look at it. We have Ron, a very good player that just doesn’t fit in with this team. He has the ability to opt-out or stay. Then we have Ben who also has a chance to get more money during the summer or stay with his team. The Bulls are also looking to trade him. So why not swap the “chuckers” and see how they do on opposite teams. We’ll get to see Ben and see if he blends in with the guys (Kevin, Cisco, Salmons, Douby, Hawes, Beno and Miller), If he doesn’t and he plans on leaving then great, but if does stay and decides to opt-out next year we get to evaluate him for almost a year – again - if he doesn’t work then we can trade him to another team or keep him until he leaves.

Where would Gordon's minutes even come from? I have no idea where he would fit. I just don't see that kind of trade happening.

Gordon would come off the bench behind Salmons. By getting rid of Artest it would allow John to move into the starting role, and Ben could come in right behind him.
