1. David Cook - 30 (3 FIRST PLACE VOTES)
2. Michael Johns - 26 (1)
3. Carly Smithson - 25
4. David Archuletta - 22
 5. Syesha Mercado - 15
 6. Jason Castro - 12
7. Brooke White - 10
8. Kristy Lee Cook - 11
 
My reaction to tonight's songs only:

1. Jason - Excellent selection. Very well done but not just a cover. Added his own touches.
2. Kristy Lee - Perfect selection. She's good but I just don't see her as American Idol.
3. Michael - Another strong performance but not his best. Still keeps him in the top three.
4. Brooke - One of my all-time favorite songs. She was okay but in this group it takes much more than okay.
5. David Archuleta - At this point, hiding behind the piano is the wrong thing to do. It works for Elton John; it doesn't work for David Archuleta. And his interpretation of the song was forgettable. (I don't care what the judges say.)
6. David Cook - I did NOT like the song. And the background singers were much louder than Cook. Not anywhere close to his best performance.
7. Carly - Her voice continues to blow me away. She has versatility, she has range and she has the other women in the contest beat cold. But this was not the right song for her.
8. Syesha - I think it's time for her to go.
 
1. Michael Johns - loved it and should make it to top 3 in contest
2. Jason Castro - excellent performance, I sitll think he should o more though with his songs
3. Kristie Lee Cook - loved ehr song and she did pretty good, i think she will be out of bottom 3
4. David Cook - didn't like the begining but liked the end, didnt like as much as previous performances
5. Brooke White - liked her song, but still needs to do more
6. David Enchillada - has good voice, but i didn't like it
7. Syesha - liked it but too many that are better
8. Carly Smithson - absoultely hated it

I'm done. Any show that has Michael leaving when Kristy Lee and Brooke, among others, are still garnering votes just isn't worth my time to watch. I may tune back in for the finals but until then I have other things I can watch. Another season with a good reason why the American public shouldn't be allowed total control of who goes and stays.
 
On a par with having the public vote for the all-star selections. :mad: No way Michael Johns should be leving this soon. :mad:

So does that mean our power ranking should shut down? I will be honest, I am not into this season as I have been past seasons. I just don't think the talent level is up to par.

But I am willing to continue if everybody else is.:cool:
 
Im really just watching for David Cook and Jason Castro. And Kristy. Shes pretty. :D

I can't really stand anyone else...And just knowing that Archuleta is going to win makes me want to puke.

I think it's up to you. I don't see anyone in a hurry to post their new rankings. This was a travesty - and if, as SLAB suggests, David Archuleta wins (which I think is also a real possibility) it will be the worst season ever.

I think one real problem this year was two consecutive weeks of drivel songs. Dolly Parton followed by "inspirational" songs really tipped the scales away from some of the most talented hopefuls. Kristy Lee and Brooke are NOT that good, IMHO, and more relevant categories would have shown that.

This really, really, really leaves a bad taste in my mouth worse than ever before...
 
Perhaps the :rolleyes: is because the last three weeks - Dolly Parton, "inspirational" songs and now Mariah Carey - have really seemed to be milquetoasty, IMHO. This is AMERICAN IDOL, where the contestants should be able to stretch their voices and really show their talents. Instead, it seems to be pandering to the traditional and even bland.

Blech...
 
I didn't dig the theme tonight.

All I know is my boy David Cook continues to rock the show.

And Ill say it again...When he loses to David Archuleta and his tweenage fangirls, I will puke a little bit inside my mouth.
 
My daughter called me and said she thought David Cook's performance tonight was "best of any of this season." So, based on her judgment, I went ahead and called in for him. I'm still not watching the show, however. I'll wait and if he's in the final two, then I'll turn back in. If not, I don't want to get my hopes up again just to have them dashed to bits...

Simon said "It was like stepping out of a karaoke hell into a fresh start"

I finally got a chance to see part of his performance. Glad I did. The kid has the talent. I think a final between him and Michael Johns would have been incredibly good but I'll be giving my Michael votes to David Cook from this point on. He is clearly head and shoulders above the rest of the remaining hopefuls.

I'm not watching the show, however, except at the end of the competition evening to find out what number to call for David Cook. I simply cannot watch Paula make the syrupy smarmy comments any longer.
 
Another mediocre week, and we are steaming into NEIL DIAMOND WEEK!.11!!

Jason Castro is gone unless people FINALLY cut Brooke. Even with her massive screw up, shes not going home though because the show decided to give her a good 10 minute of air time.

And lastly Randy and Paula are so sprung on Archuleta it's disturbing and disgusting. :mad:
 
I thought Syesha had a really good performance. The show tunes genre really seemed to fit her well.

Actually, considering I don't think it's his niche at all, and it's such a famous song, I thought David Cook's performance was very good.

Jason and Brooke were pretty awful.

Davis Archuleta has a wonderful voice and I have no doubt he'll be a success in the field if he wants it. He just doesn't have any presence on stage. It's simply that he has no real life experience to give his presence some real, strong emotions behind it. Agreed he could win, but....

David Cook has shown he is a very well-rounded singer/musician, who has confidence and knows who he is. It shows. He should win in my opinion.

Carly has a great voice, too, but too often I feel like she's just shouting. It was a great song choice for her, but I actually didn't like the way she did it.
 
If there was no David Cook this show would be dead to me.

I hate the voting process.

Brooke does not deserve to be anywhere near the Top 5.

Nor does Jason, as much as I like him.

And Carly should not be going home.

Then David Archy is going to win.

And this rant concludes with me saying this has been a godawful season saved solely by the fact there is a uuber-talented rocker that will have a great career.

Last night was another example of why this show has peaked and may be past it's time. This by far is the WORST season of American idol. The talent is marginal, and the voting has completely turned into a popularity competition. AI justifies it by saying that every year the top two is always right. But you lose people in the process.

My favorites Cook and Archuletta is still around, but there is no way that Brooke and Jason should still be on that show over Carly and Michael Johns.

And thirdly, I am so sick and tired of the genre themes. Neil Diamond, Show Tunes, Mariah Carey, Beatles Week #1 and #2, Dolly Parton, Inspirational....MAN!!!!:mad: What demographic are they trying to reach.
 
I've quit watching the performance nights entirely and just Tivo the results night so I can fast-forward through the crap. Carly should not have gone home with Brooke and Jason still around. I didn't think she would win but I still would have placed her way above those two. In fact, I would have had her second behind David Cook. Archuleta is not my idea of someone who will really light up the charts. Syesha has a future on Broadway, IMHO.

They were talking this morning about the ratings for the show being down and I can understand why. I really believe they need to have some kind of "safety net" system so the judges can save someone who really shouldn't be going home. One of the dance programs from a season or two back had it and I think it was a very good idea...

Anyway, I'm waiting for Michael Johns' CD to come out.
 
It hasn't really been very entertaining for me this season. I didn't watch the show last night. I think I'll just wait until the very last show and watch to see who won. My vote goes to David Cook.

If David Cook doesn't win, at this point, it would be a travesty.
 
Last night's show was horrible!!!! Even David Cook who I have liked from the beginning was not appealing. Paula is a classic. I can't wait for AI to come to it's senses and replace her with Marie Osmond. :D
 
I only saw David's performances.

Pretty good.

I don't care for ANYONE else.

Brooke makes me sick and I hate her act...Add that to the fact she doesnt deserve to be there in front of Carly.

Jason is a goof, I like him, but he's just not appealing while singing.

I don't like Sayesha.

I despise Archuleta.

Kinda ruins the show when there's so much garbage, at least in my eyes.

No offense, but how many times do you need to tell us that you don't like Brooke. I think we all got the hint after the 10th time that you have mentioned this.
