Not really. The main thing Nash does is run the pick and roll all day with Amare and dribbles around and finds him for dunks/lay ups. But Amare also has a GREAT face up game, very good jumpshot, good touch around the basket. Yeah he's not a great defender but that Suns team as a whole doesn't play D, and the pace is very fast, so I don't think he's really that bad. As far as the rebounding, yeah he's not as good at the boards as he used to. But that's just because he's an underachiever there. He averages more boards than West IIRC, and other people here have brought him up. Ideally we get the next KG, but the next KG is going to cost a hell of a lot and you can't be picky when it comes to big men entering their prime who have an elite offensive game. It's more realistic than getting Bosh, who also doesn't play great D. I would take Amare on this team every day and twice on sunday. It's atleast worth exploring, he's a more reasonable player to get. If he's open to playing here for the right amount of money anyway.

A big man of Amare's, Al Jeffersons, or Bosh's caliber would make us greatly better when paired along with Tyreke... its not going to matter which one of those guys it may be because they all get the job done in my mind. Id go for Bosh, then Jefferson, then Amare... honestly... but if Amare is available, and the other two aren't, I think we need to jump on it.

As good as Amare is, he is really a Kevin Martin of PFs. He can score with the best of them and efficiently but don't ask him to do much else out there. He is a poor rebounder for a PF, not a good shotblocker and lousy defender. You would get him depending on and what you are giving up but you still have major interior defensive issues and you don't get a good rebounder

While I agree he isn't the best defensive player, I don't see why people consider players like Amare, or Al Jefferson for that matter, trash on defense. the fact is that these guys are big and they are physical. He gets his rebounds game in and game out and isn't afraid to bang. You don't need to be a great defender in my books, just physical. Thats better than what we get with JT and Hawes at least.

Not my first choice at all, and in addition to the other drawbacks his ego is just enormous and worrisome. But after you get done handwringing over those sorts of things, he is yet another in that class of young enoguh mega-PFs that we need to try to mine here. You may never agin see this many of them al out ofn the semi-market at the same time again. The agents with this free agent bonanza nonsense have created a unique situation. Throw in the Wolves struggles and you have half of the Top 10 PFs potentially on the market. Bosh, Jefferson, Boozer, Amare, Jamison at least. Amare would not be my top choice, but I agree that on offense he would be extremely potent with his little jumpers and quick hitting post slashes. And every time Reke's penetration was cut off and he dropped it off, Amare would catch it, and he would finish. You get your inside scoring without slowing the offense. Like Boozer though, one of those guys you definitely have a talkk with his agent before you make any move for him (actually with Boozer its different because you don't believe him no matter what he says).

Honestly I would do it. Even with the lack of defensive presence shown by some of the top PF's currently there are yings to their yang out there. It wouldn't take much to turn around and trade for an Okafor/Dalambert if you were able to pull off the trade for an Amare/Bosh. I think the top flight PF comes first, the defensive C comes 2nd. And we enjoy life afterwards

I honestly like Boozer better than Amare.

Boozer's a better (defensive) rebounder and passer, which are two areas our TEAM struggles at.

The ONLY thing that Amare is better at than Boozer IMO, is shotblocking and it's not that big a gap either. Give me Boozer, better hands, better shooter, better rebounder, better low-post game. They both suck at man-to-man defense.

I'm not quite sure what some people define as a poor rebounder. Amare has averaged 8.9 rebounds for his career. And he's right on that mark again this year. And contrary to what someone posted, he's a better defensive rebounder than he is an offensive rebounder. Averaging over 6 defensive boards a game. Now that may not make him a great rebounder, but he's certainly not a bad rebounder.

While I agree with Bricky that he's not my first choice, he's certainly better than anything we have right now. So for me, it would depend on what we have to give up to get him and whether we can resign him or not. I'm not sure what the Suns are looking for.

Here we go again... We don't live in a perfect world. Yet you seem to always want the kings to acquire the perfect players and assemble the perfect team. That ain't gonna happen. If someone of amares talent is available you at least attempt to grab him. And to top it off he's what, like 26-27 years old?? I'd be all over this trade.
