I'm not denying his skills both with his mind and his hands. I question his knees, which is the only real reason we got rid of him in the first place. IMO, the last thing we need is another big man who can't jump and who sits on the perimeter. We already have Miller doing that. And we don't have Adelman anymore so it just doesn't make sense.
 
From a Philly Fan site, someone said that Philly TV was talking about the Sixers going after an "unknown big man from a team out west."

Could be Murphy or Biedrins.

Let's remember Philly would also like to dump Webber's contract and they will need to replace him too.

Sigh... you're probably right. I just still haven't gotten over that Webber trade and we're STILL trying to dump what we got for him.

No dump as in dump. We've wasted years doing it, and the grand total of our dumpage at this point has been turning Brian Skinner into Vitaly Potapenko. Yay. Meanwhile the excitement has completely drained out of the building, the wins are spirlaing downward, and we are reduced to hatching an ultimate gamble "plan" to team two of the most volatile personalities in the game and hope the resulting explosion is pointed out at the other guys rather than inward.

I NEVER listen to Rome (maybe once every two or three years - only when a big trade might happen and I want to have sports on the radio) but he said this morning that he wants AI to land in Sactown with Artest.

I think this idea has sparked a lot of interest throughout the sporting world and may hold some promise.

Of course, as G3 said, it could also go down as a wonderfully bright supernova-type event.... :eek:

For someone who is so in favor of rebuilding you really choose to ignore how it actually works to rebuild. The Webber trade was made in large part because of this very trading deadline and coming offseason. Webber is untradeable and is Philly's albatross. Kenny Thomas, Corliss and Potapenko are very much tradeable, as we're seeing right now. They may very well morph into a Hall of Famer. If it doesn't work for AI they're going to be pieces in our offer for KG. And if it doesn't work for KG then we have cap space in the offseason. That's how rebuilding works. You take a hit in the short term for a payoff down the line.

Since Rome is a Lakers fan, I'm sure he'd love to see the Kings explode.

Personally, I'd love to see what would happen if AI ended up in LA with Kobe. Now THAT would be entertaining.

Usually rebuilding means trading age for youth. Not age for more age with less skills.

And if KT and Corliss are so desirable, why are they still here?

Like I said, if we can put them in as fodder with Bibby, then great.

Reading a Philly fan site again, apparently Stephen A. Smith was on ESPN radio saying that GWS is the leader and Boston is a close second in the trade for AI.

He lists others as Minny, the Clippers, Denver and Chicago.

No mention of Sacto anywhere. HOORAY!!

They'd have to show the rest of the team pictures of basketballs in practice and halftime just to remind them what they look like....because you know any assists they rack up would be to each other. And by assist I mean when they are trying to pull the ball out of the other's hands and accidentally score a basket.

This is near unique for KT, and that's largely our own pipedream in dumping him off. He;s the albatross. Webb is the $22 million golden goose next year. I think the difficulty is that your idea of rebuilding is basically very very timid. Nibble. Shave a $$ here a $$ there, draft at #18, hope to get lucky...does not work. That's not rebuilding, that's kind of settling. Rebuilding is by definition dramatic. It implies tearing down. Which is scary, but the necessry prerequisite. Big large swings, big loss totals, uncompetitve too young rosters. Tons of cap room. And out of all that comes the "rebuild". Top young players, impact free agents. Webb next year will singlehandledly put some team $10mil under the salary cap even if they are right at the luxury tax limit. He's a walking cap savior. Meanwhiel Corliss and Pot get us...well not very far actually. Another MLE year. While Kenny's contract runs on and on. They are no impact players at the MLE. Few and far between at #18. There is no hope that way. You just linger.

Stephen A. is another Sac hater. I listened to his garbage last night where he made no mention of Sac being interested. It's not like he didn't have that information. It's that he didn't want to address it, again, because he is a Sac hater. He doesn't want to see A.I. come here because it might mean good things for us. Which would be a personal conflict in his job. He is so full of shiz that I can smell it through the TV.

Great points, and I agree. However I have the feeling that due to our recent relative success, i.e. making the playoffs the last 8 years, I just don't think GP is ready to blow 'er up. Maybe it takes a year like this, barring any major trades, for him to realize it is time.

That's not really a yay at this point you know. Getting A.I. might be shaky. NOT getting A.I. while very obviously dangling our guys...well a depressing season could get even worse. In a lot of ways we've gone too far now to turn back. And so a team in need of focus and cohesion isntead gets to linger aorund on a constant Bibby trade watch until we find him a new home or watch a critical lump of talent walk away come June.
