Allen Iverson thread - DAY TWO

By the way...perusing the Warriors board they had lifted some trade that Ezekielbear(sp......posts here as well so he may swing by) saying that the deal on the table is:

Bibby, Cisco, Thomas and Vitaly plus a #1

for

Iverson, Dalembert and Ollie

It also says that the Sixers have set a 6PM ET deadline for teams to try and beat that deal.

Just reporting more rumors :D

That's not really a yay at this point you know. Getting A.I. might be shaky. NOT getting A.I. while very obviously dangling our guys...well a depressing season could get even worse. In a lot of ways we've gone too far now to turn back. And so a team in need of focus and cohesion isntead gets to linger aorund on a constant Bibby trade watch until we find him a new home or watch a critical lump of talent walk away come June.
Yes, you're right. It's risky. Although I think we've got enough veterans of trade rumors that it won't be that bad.

I was hoping for a 3 way or something were we could participate but not have to get AI in the deal. We COULD get something of value for Bibby if we have to.

That #1 may hurt, but that deal works for me. I'm jusut wondring how hard is that to beat really? I good player. 1 bad contract. 1 middling young guy. 1 small ender. And a #1 which the team you are getting it from hopes will be more like #20 than #10. Not that sterling really. And meanwhile you throw in your young starting center as well just for the heck of it? If oyu are rebuilding wiht youth, wouldn't eh be somethng to keep around? At least until you truly had a replacement for him?

I'm not sure Philly would toss in Dalembert for reasons mentioned earlier. They really have almost no other center and it's not like Vitaly will be one. And they play in the east where you need a center.

But, who knows.

If that is true then I would be stoked. Then we would have a roster spot which we could fill with Justin Williams maybe. Then we could have Douby and Price under the tutelage of A.I. and Williams under Dally.

Wow, that would an awesome deal...

Then trade Miller for Al Harrington and we're in business.:D

Iverson
Martin
Artest
Harrington
Dalembert

Well hopefully we'll start hearing something soon...only a few hours until the 'deadline'. Sure Grant will have some info for us at 4.

C'mon Everyone....

How can you be down about the possibility of this trade? You say he's a ball hog and we'll have the lowest assist totals, but the guy is averaging over 7 assists a game. How many is Bibby averaging? And I love the way this guy attacks the basket with authority. Plus he's averaging over 2 steals a game. I think we get better offensively and defensively with this trade if it includes bibby. I wouldn't give up Martin though. But a lightning strike is definetly what this team needs right now.

If Bibby opts out of his contract(which it has been reported he will) this trade will save about 22 million bucks for Philly next year. Dalembert has a worse contract than Kenny but it least he does more of what we need. The only contract Philly will have left would be Thomas and Garcia while shedding the 33 million dollar deals(for next year) of Dalembert and Iverson.

AI has assists because he's always got the ball. The only way anyone else gets a shot at all is when he gives up on his own shot and passes it. Sometimes they manage to make the shot.

Bibby, on the other hand, passes the ball to Miller or into the post for a post-up. Opportunities for assists aren't high.

What are we waiting for if that's true, pull the trigger!!!!! :D

We'd still have Corliss at $6.5M, Hart at $1.6M, Taylor at $1M, also Price, but I hope we resign him and we have some cap relief coming off the books at seasons end and have a very dynamic starting group of:

AI
KMart
Artest
Dalembert
Miller

Send Mr Thomas back where he came from...
I don't think they want him.

And actually, I can't believe I'm saying this. If we don't get a 4 or 5 in a trade, I'd rather keep Kenny. At least when he plays hard, he's not bad. And if he doesn't shoot but just grabs rebounds and gets put-backs, he's not a liability.

This deal does not make any sense, unless the sixers think that bibby and webber could bring back some magic from that old sac team that would just kill the sixers. They trade a young center, they get thomas who will have to play off the bench but hates too, get a pg who will most likely opt out the following season and i love Cisco but he doesn't hold much promise as a young guy. And that pick will be in the teens to early 20's. The only thing postive that i see the sixers getting is cap space.

True. However, take a look at their starting lineup and find me good shooters. You can't. He is averaging 7.3 assists this year on a team without many shooters. We have just ended an era where our team philosophy revolved around shooters. And we still have many of those pieces. Miller and Martin would be the primary beneficiaries of Allen's passes, however few they may be. I stated earlier that Allen could average a double-double with us because of that fact.

Wow. Looks like almost every possible combination that will work financially has now been posted in the last 36 hours or so.

:p

I don't think anyone out there has the REAL skinny. This thing is being kept locked down tight, for obvious reasons.

I keep waiting for one of VF's assurances that something is coming down. We have to be involved in something, right? The Bibby insult won't go away.

Yecch. I hope they don't end up with an insulted player that we've loved for years.

Are you sure VF...that you don't have any information for us? :D

All I know is that as of last night, the Kings were still in the hunt. Believe me, I'm as anxious as anyone else... trade or no trade, I just hate waiting. Despite being a long-time Kings fan, I am not a patient person.
