All Time Kings Draft...on a Tropical Island?

I'm in for the final spot, if my limited number of post isn't an issue for you guys.

Alright William, you would be the 12th guy. Your lack of posts to date is no problem just so long as you are active going forward. Note that there are three long term posters queued up behind you, so you've got a lot to live up to. ;)

MassacheusettsKings, Dime Dropper, tradepeja you guys are alternates in case anybody doesn't respond/drops out.

I could do the randomizer myself, but the mods have agreed to always have somebody not in the particular draft do it just to eliminate any question of tampering, so I'll drop a PM to Warhawk.

Finalized rules will go up later, and I'll Pm them to everyone.

thx for playing.

OK, here we go - this is the order kicked out on the randomizer:

  1. 4
  2. 2
  3. 11
  4. 5
  5. 9
  6. 1
  7. 10
  8. 8
  9. 7
  10. 6
  11. 3
  12. 12
Have fun!

Sixth pick?!...

Hopefully my mediocre draft position will out-mediocre the suck of everyone else's positions.

...I may only get the mediocre, but you know what...In Kings history, mediocre just isn't too bad.

Team Never-Lose is back.
:p

So, I guess this means I have the number one pick?

Sorry, the other way around. I should have explained when I posted the list.

The first number is the drafting position after the randomizer, the second number is who is listed in Brick's list in the first post of the thread. For instance:

1. 4

Means whoever was #4 on Brick's list is first to choose in the draft after the randomizer. That would be uolj.

Hope this clears it up.

  1. 4 - uolj
  2. 2 - Capt. Factorial
  3. 11 - Kings Faithful
  4. 5 - Jespher
  5. 9 - R2D2
  6. 1 - Bricklayer
  7. 10 - Slab
  8. 8 - Lowenherz
  9. 7 - Spike
  10. 6 - kingsnation
  11. 3 - venom_7
  12. 12 - William Blake
For clarity I have added names.

Nooooo how'd I miss this! I've been waiting for this since last summer, but was in the middle of a move last week. Too late to sign up I take it? Damn.

You can have my spot LP... I have alot of homework due in a few days and finals coming up soon after that so I would probably have a hard time being consistent with this draft.

If you need to drop, ok, but we've already got 3 peeps queued, and so LP will have to be added after them. I'll PM Massacheusetts and see if he wants to be in, then Dime Dropper, trhen tradepaja, and then LP.

Everybody hang on for a few hours until I get the final rules and draft board up, then I'll hit everybody with a PM and we can get going. In this draft getting your first round pick off on schedule will be critical, so if somebody disappears and times out it might be better to have one of the alternates just take over. Missing Webber and checking in a week later to end up with Shareef instead isn't going to work.

Sweet. I'm liking the 4th pick (much better than 9th :)).

How are we handling the lock out year? Since it was only 50 games long does that count against them, or if they played all 50 games is that similar to playing a full season of 82 stats wise?

Fair enough, but I'm already calling dibs on next year's all time draft of guys who wore Kings unis at some point in their career.

Your check is in the mail. :D

Ouch, I went to bed thinking I had the number 1 pick and woke up with the 10th pick! This is becoming all too Kings-like already! :p

Alrighty, just waiting now to hear back from the alternates to fill the spots being abandoned by various yellowbellies -- want to have a full roster before starting.

If anybody else wants to drop out I am going to fill your Inbox up with pictures of Roseanne Barr naked.

Otherwise, as soon as the slots are filled, I'll hit everybody with a PM and we'll go.

As an aside, alternate types = MassacheusettsKingsfan, Dime Dropper, tradepeja, and LPKingsfan. Check your PMs guys.

Alright, MassacheusettsKingsfan has taken one of the available spots, and LPKingsfan has responded on the other, so just waiting to see if Dime Dropper or tradepeja (who were in ahead of LP) respond back on it or not.

Could we get a reminder of the common courtesies expected in these drafts, or is that part of the full rules and stuff you planned on posting/modifying? For example, we try to PM the next person on the clock once we've made our picks, but no PM is no excuse for missing your 24 hour window, correct?

As to what's up there now, if you're looking to avoid chaos with your change to rule 5 (which I like as it is now, by the way), what's up with rule 6? Just wondering, not proposing a change. Also, I agree to #7 with one small change to a single word in there (hint: this word would go from 10 letters to four).

What's the word on make-up picks? Personally, I always liked the rule that you make up your pick whenever you can, but as long as you have make-up picks pending you lose your 24 hour pick window.

Looking forward to surprising some people with my first pick. I'd consider a trade, but only with someone else in the top 3 or 4.

In fact, I'll just let it be known that assuming the draft starts by tomorrow morning (Sacramento time!) I'll consider trade requests up until around 3pm. Feel free to PM or post here.

I never dropped out and never expressed a desire to do so.

I think you've confused me with Kings Faithful...

Draft Order:
  1. uolj
  2. Capt. Factorial
[*]Kings Faithful <------ Either I or MKF should be here.
  3. Jespher
  4. R2D2
  5. Bricklayer
  6. Slab
  7. Lowenherz (pending replacement)
  8. Spike
  9. MassacheusettsKingsfan
  10. venom_7
  11. William Blake

Oops, you're right.

Ok, so Mass will take Kings Faithful's spot, you get yours back. Kings Faithful giving up the cherry draft position too. Could easily have had his choice of Les Jepsen or Ben Gillery there in the first round.

2) Dime Dropper will be taking over for Lowenherz.

Note: Lowenherz would like it to be noted that he is not in fact yellow, and is just a magnaminous guy willing to step aside out of the goodness of his heart. He also has a bridge he would like to sell you. :p

And so we are off.

uolj is on the clock

You will note a little red arrow in the draft order below the directions indicating who is currently drafting. Obviously this being kept current will depend on my being around, so use it as a guide and reminder, but do not rely on it. remember too that because of trades and whatnot, this order may shift around. Again I will try to keep it updated -- check it occasionaly to make sure you know when you pick next.

I will add a note about the PM courtesies in the rules, but uolj's summation is correct: when you make your own pick, immediately send a PM to the person after you in the draft order. Receipt of such a PM is a courtesy only -- if you do not receive sucha PM and take more than 24 hours to make a pick, you will be skipped over and have to make a makeup pick later. Thsi could be especially damaging in a draft such as this with a limited supply of quality players. Stay involved and try to check the thread daily just to make sure!

I don't really want to wait until 3pm, and after thinking about it I don't think I'd accept any possible trade, so I'm going to pick as soon as I have a minute.

Chris Webber 2002-2003

Important Stats

67 Games
23.0 Points/G
10.5 Rebounds/G
5.4 Assists/G
1.3 Blocks/G
1.6 Steals/G

This wasn't his best statistical year (which was 2000-2001). It wasn't the year he played the most games or took the team the furthest in the playoffs, either. But it was the year that he was at his mental best. Leading, finishing, stepping up. I'll give up a few rebounds and blocks to get Webber at his peak mental toughness. The extra assists don't hurt either (can you say 20-10-5?).

Full Stats (regular season):
Code:
Season G GS MP FG FGA FG% 3P 3PA 3P% FT FTA FT% ORB DRB TRB AST STL BLK TOV PF PTS
2002-03 67 67 39.1 9.9 21.4 .461 0.1 0.3 .238 3.2 5.3 .607 2.4 8.1 10.5 5.4 1.6 1.3 3.2 3.0 23.0

In a draft where your fourth and fifth starters are likely to be career backups, if you have the opportunity to grab an amazing season - the type that can carry an otherwise good team to the playoffs - you have to do it. There may be some disagreement about my pick, but I make it in good conscience. In fact, I'm almost glad that I didn't get the #1 overall pick, because although I couldn't have passed on Webber, there are quite a few arguments that the season I am going to be drafting was the single greatest statistical season in Sacramento history: Peja Stojakovic's 2003-2004 season.

It's a season that ranks among the best in a ton of categories (rank in parentheses):
Minutes: 3264 (1)
Points: 1964 (2)
3 pointers made: 240 (1)
Rebounds: 508 (32)
Steals: 108 (18)
3 Point%: .433 (6, min 100 attempts; 2 min 200 attempts)
Free Throw%: .927 (2, min 100 attempts)
True Shooting: .624 (1, min 1500 minutes)
ORtg: 120 (T-3, min 1500 minutes)
Win Shares per 48: 0.198 (T-3, min 1500 minutes)
Total Win Shares: 13.5 (1, 23% more than Webber's '00-'01)

In a season when Webber was down following his major knee injury, Peja led the Kings to a 43-14 record (.754) in the 57 games prior to Webb's return, quelling doubts that he could step up and "be the man" with Webber out. And for as much grief as Peja gets for being a soft defensive player, he ranked 11th in DRtg among 35 qualified seasons (1500 minutes) put up by small forwards - not too shabby. The picture I chose highlights the fact that the defense he played in the first round of the playoffs was instrumental in getting us by the Mavericks and into the second round (especially his end-game shutdown of Dirk in Game 5).

Regular Season Stats:
Code:
G GS MP FG% 3P% FT% TRB AST STL BLK TOV PF PTS PER TS% ORtg DRtg OWS DWS WS WS/48

81 81 40.3 .480 .433 .927 6.3 2.1 1.3 0.2 1.9 2.0 24.2 21.8 .624 120 106 11.4 2.1 13.5 0.198
