All Star Game

Still, Kobe was perhaps the only player tonight who did anything to wow the crowd on a consistent basis which is what the All Star gane is all about anyway.

At best, they split the award, but I can't remember the last time they split it between a big and a guard besides Stockton/Malone (but that was tainted since the game was in Utah). Shaq and Duncan split in 2000, but they're both bigs. Shaq and Jordan were 1/2 in 1996, but they gave it to Jordan, to which Shaq voiced the same basic complaint that BM52 is.

When was the last time the All-Star MVP was based on shooting percentage? Kobe had a lot to do with that high percentage, btw. Comparing statlines, and performance, it was hands down, Kobe. I bet if Artest played and came up with the same exact statline as Kobe, he would undoubtedly be the All-Star MVP in his board. No questions asked.

I have no problem at all with Kobe getting the MVP award. He was fun to watch, including how he deferred to others, set up plays, etc. And his flying dunk was vintage! The youngsters can do all the razzle-dazzle crap they like but seeing Kobe fly through the air in the course of game was what a dunk should be about, IMHO.

Nice job, Mr. Bryant.

No you didn't just say that?!?

Just kidding. He did deserve it. As much as I hate him he is a great basketball player.

31 points, 6 assists, 6 steals, and the best player in that game. How did Amare deserve it more than Kobe?

Because Kobe was clearly gunning for MVP. Jacked up too many shots, and tried to rack up his point total at the end... But the game as a whole was a crapchute. The East was clearly outmatched and to top it off was outhustled. I turned it off a few mins into the third quarter and caught the tail end of it at a restaraunt

Okay, I almost forgot...

Someone needs to tell Wayne Newton "Danke" and retire him. I've always liked him and I know he's a Las Vegas icon, but watching his Botoxed face as he "sang" actually scared me.

On the other hand, I liked the variety of the half-time show. Pure Vegas, true, but Aguilera was the perfect closing act.

Wayne was lip singing too. If you look at the very end of his act he ended early on Viva Las Vegas while the music kept going. I know its not out of the ordinary for some acts to pre-record their stuff, but to have it pre-recorded and sound that bad was pretty scary.

Christina on the other hand was great.

I was thinking the same damn thing, at least if your gonna go milli vanilli on us, make it sound good! I was disgusted at that point.

Yes, I caught that too!! So pathetic.

Most performing artists get reamed for that, and it seems I haven't heard anything about this at all since it happened.

Glad it was not me -- I feared my dripping disdain for all things cheesy and Vegas had led me to miss the "entertainment" value of a Wayne Newton medley.

Still better than that awful butchering Mary J Blige put on "One" the day before though. Yikes.

Wait VF...I thought the only part of the All Star game you planned to watch was the Barkley-Bavetta race...lolol;) .
