I have a very stressful depressing life. Sometimes I just want to get away from everything and have some time to clear my head and breathe some fresh air. What are some places in the greater Sacramento area that are nice to go and just think. A place to get away from the city life. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Also, I'm a new member. Been visiting for a while but finally decided to start posting. My name is Marco.

First of all, welcome to posting on these boards!

Secondly, about places to go...try visiting the Tahoe area. Beautiful, and a nice place to clear your mind up.

Welcome to the board. We're glad to have you. Sorry to hear that lif'e a bit rough, tho. Are you lookng for a place to actually get out of the Sacramento area or a place that's within the greater Sacramento area that's just a relatively calm, peaceful place?

"a place that's within the greater Sacramento area that's just a relatively calm, peaceful place?"

bingo..any ideas where?

I like Land Park, too, altho it can get crowded on the summer weekends. Still its large and you can usually find a nice spot. I especially enjoy the rock garden near the Amphitheater and Fairytale Town.

A place a lot of people don't know about is the Goethe Arboretum at the front of the Sac State campus. Beautiful trees.

There is a botanical garden in Fair Oaks, called the Jensen Botanical Gardens. Its off of Fair Oaks Blvd a bit west of Sunrise. It was a bit neglected, but they have been fixing it up.

McKinley Park is also busy, but very nice.

Busy at times, but, again, nice is the Nature Preserve at Effie Yeaw

And Slugking50 is right. There are a lot of relatively quiet and beautiful places along the American River Parkway.
