All about Bosh (merged)

Now see that is where people begin to get a little...out there.

Go aroudn the league and start constructing deals substantially in excess of that that teams would actually be willing to give up. No team is going to swap out a current All Star big to get Bosh as their new All Star big.
Portland outbids us easily. Andre Miller (EC) + 2010 1st + 2 of Koppen, Freeland, and Claver + absorbing Calderon contract and maybe Batum or Rudy.

Anyone who trades for Bosh has to take Calderon and I don't see the Maloofs committing to that. Paul Allen would.

This is the same question I'm asking. Is it just the marquee value? Bosh averages 11.1 RPG. Thompson averages 9.3 RPG. Bosh is averaging 1.0 Blocks per game. Thompson is averaging 1.1 blocks per game. Thompson is only in his second year. The only dramatic stat difference between them is PPG. Where Bosh is at 23.8 PPG and Thompson is at 15.5 PPG.

So do you turn the team upside down to gain 1.7 RPG, because offense hasn't been the problem for the team. Defense has! And Bosh doesn't address that problem. If Bosh is such a difference maker, then whats wrong in Toronto. Why isn't he making a difference there? Its not as though their team is chopped liver. They have Hedo and a very good point guard in Calderon. Bargnani is playing well, and certainly looks better than Hawes right now. When you add in the uncertainty of resigning him, it doesn't make any sense to me.
AND, even if you do sign him, you've just committed to zillions of dollars to guy that makes no defensive impact, which means you have much fewer dollars to spend on a guy or guys that do have an impact on defense. At some point, it becomes a zero sum game.

I don't really see Portland chasing after Bosh even with their recent injury woes. They've got to start paying their kids now and can't just add another max salary guy, unless they are willing to kick Oden to the curb. I also think Martin is a better sell - outside shot at an all-star in the East plus he obviously can be a fan favorite considering how many here consider him untouchable. Not sure if Toronto will be in the position to dictate terms like Calderon if Bosh has his heart set on getting out.

Honestly, you never know what GMs are thinking. We certainly can put together a better package than Martin + Hawes but that seems a good starting off point, especially if Toronto risks losing him for nothing.

Basically your option is to trade for nobody of significance up front. becuase here's the deal. Best young PFs in the game? Bosh -- no defense. Jefferson -- no defense. Stoudemire -- no defense (or rebounding). Boozer -- no defense.

This mythical 20-10 plays great defense guy you are looking for comes along once every 10 years and is named Tim Duncan or Dwight Howard. And he's old and unavailable. In fact ANY player who can do all those things is going to be unavailble. So you are left with the options to either take the flawed guy and hope that his desire to win will help him pick it up in a new environment -- same way it did with Webb -- or to just fold,

This sums it up perfectly. The guy you are all talking about, his name is Dwight Howard. I think we should offer up Martin, Hawes, and KT and see how well that is received by Orlando. Bolded for emphasis of the SARCASM

Botom line is you need to take shots in this league. Nobody knows how a trade will work out, or a free agent signing until AFTER it is done and you get to see some games. You think the Sixers would sign Elton Brand aain after seeing what has happened since they got him?But hey, Elton was a 20-10 guy and the Sixers SUCK with him. That signing may go down as the worst in 10 years.

I'm going with uproarious laughter. Once in a generation dominant big man for pieces that we consider expendable?

Uh? How is that even close to outbidding us for a Martin offer?

and they LIKE calderon -- don't klnow where this salary dump thing comes from. He's core Raptors/Euroball personnel

Wow, have you had a little bit too much to drink? That was some SERIOUS sarcasm there, and you thought it was serious?

Sure, two nobodys for the best big man in the game... yeah, since I came up with that great deal, I think we should also offer Sergio for D wade:)
