Josh was another IT clone from UCLA who was excellent shooting PG on Kings summer league team. Personall I'd rather see Kings go after Calderon up in Toronto, a 6-4 pass first PG who can shoot 3's. Maybe Jimmer and a first......???? hmmm....

Why would the Kings need another PG? We have IT and Brooks. Having a $10m Calderon contract would put us 3 deep at the PG spot without enough minutes to go between the three of them. As much as I like the idea of running Calderon and Reke out there together on offense, Calderon's defense is worse than IT's and he takes the ball out of Reke's hands just as much.

With improved defense from Cuz and TRob and another years experience for others, I'm assuming King "D" is much improved in coming year. Besides, with Brooks (6-1), IT (5-9) and Jimmer (6-2) we don't have much size at PG and not near enough assists. Jimmer and Salmons for Calderon works salary wise according to RealGM.

Actually, Akognon was out of Cal State Fullerton, not UCLA (you might have mixed him up with Lazeric Jones who was also on the Kings VSL team).

Anyway, this news doesn't say that he's going to go to the Kings camp, so it's entirely possible he will go somewhere else. He did a good job in the VSL so I'm sure somebody will be interested in having him in camp. He's not a good fit for us at all now that we've picked up Brooks. Even if he comes to Kings camp he's obviously not counting on making an NBA team, considering he's signed up in China. I wouldn't panic over this. In fact I'd be surprised if he didn't make somebody's camp.

Yeah, I agree. The GM's at summer league do watch other games, and just for the purpose of possibly picking up a gem out of the crowd. Akognon did play very well, at least on the offensive side of the ball. He can score, and from just about anywhere on the floor. But barring a trade we don't know about, I don't see him making the Kings team.

I like Calderon for the Kings also. Freddette and Salmons sounds about right. I would even go IT and Salmons. But I like a pass first PG

My brother is good friends with Akgonon and me Josh was invited to mavs camp personally by Mark Cuban. He would not go to kings camp even if invited because he wants to go where he has a legit chance of making a roster as he has a daughter and a kid which is his number one priority. Josh was disappointed the kings signed Brooks because he outplayed Brooks last year in China. He put up 52 against him.
