A Monarch on a radio commercial?

I forgot to mention this about a week ago, but I just finally remembered!

I just turned on the car radio to KDND-FM (107.9 - "The End") and it was playing a commercial for a local car dealership.

The ad mentioned a Sacramento Monarch, or possibly one of the players there did a voiceover on that commercial. I had just turned the car radio when it was already halfway through, so I didn't hear the whole commercial and wasn't able to hear who it exactly was. But judging from the tone of the voice, I am guessing it was Nicole Powell or possibly Erin Buescher. I knew it wasn't Ticha's distinct accented voice!

Has anyone else heard this commercial also?

I don't recall the name of the auto dealership, but it wasn't the Roseville Auto Mall. Was it Lasher maybe?

Kara Lawson has an Elk Grove Volkswagen ad (they're part of the Lasher Group).

She specifically mentions being on the Monarchs and playing in the WNBA. It wasn't too long ago (maybe even just last year) that players who made commercials couldn't use league information in them -- they had to wear nondescript uniforms, etc. I guess the league has relaxed that rule under Donna Orender.

Thanks for your response. Perhaps it was Kara who did that commercial that I heard briefly on the radio recently. Considering that she has a broadcasting career, that shouldn't be suprising.

Perhaps. But in Kara's case, this was only for a local car dealer (and not a nationwide business), so I guess there might be an exception on the licensing rules and advertising regulations on this case. If it was a nationwide business (such as Lisa Leslie in the Subway Sandwich commercial, or Diana Taurasi for Five O'Clock Coffee, or Sue Bird in an American Express commercial two years ago), then there might be an issue on using the WNBA logo or their team's logo, unless there was special permission involved.

I remember two or three years ago, Ruthie Bolton and then-King Bobby Jackson appeared on a billboard for a school credit union. They both wore basketball jerseys, but did not have a NBA or WNBA logo on it. They were either blank or mentioned the credit union's name.

Ticha's endorsement of a local smoothie place has her appearing in one of her international team uniforms. So it might have something to do with whether or not the promotion is personal or related to a team sponsorship or something.

I think its related to whether the advertiser is a team sponsor or not.
