a minute to reminisce

went through youtube looking for kings clips and watched this one:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=26jj4wC3-xs&search=sacramento kings

as we continue into TDOS, into a new season, and new era of kings basketball, i will always remember these kings. and no matter how the league changes, how "small ball" teams like phoenix become the darlings of the NBA, i'll always know that there is nothing, NOTHING, more beautiful than the fastbreak that these kings gave us.

go kings!

OK. I am WAY too sentimental. Not only did that make me smile and give be chills, it made me want to cry! That, my friends, is the defintion of bittersweet. I loved it!

wow great vid!! the quality couldnt get any better though;). arghhhhh i miss those days!! i miss CWebb, Bjax, DC, Gerald Wallace's crazy dunks, JWill sick passes, and those damn black jerseys. BRING THEM BACK!!!!!

I give it props just for using the Chili Peppers. :D (Kiedis and Flea are avid Lakers fans though, so that's sort of ironic)

EDIT: I miss C-Webb. :(

I will always love those guys, but I'm pretty darn excited about the upcoming season and what we may see from our "new" Kings.

I watch old game tapes sometimes with much the same feeling that those clips give. That was a special time and I feel blessed to have been a part of it. The unselfish play, the passing, the sheer joy, along with that special, magic, something. There will never be an era in Kings basketball quite like that one again. (not saying there won't be different good to great teams and times, just that those teams were special in their own right and will forever be etched in my memory)

Nice little video to reminisce on.

The Kings of those days won over the hearts of us long suffering fans here in Sacramento and also brought in fans all over the nation (and world). They still hold a special place in our hearts as we look to a new future.

Great Video! Did any of those guys create magic like that elsewhere? To me, they were a great example of a team being greater than the sum of its components!!

Good stuff. Even if the Kings of the future go on to win many titles, that group of guys will always be remembered.

That passing will always be the trademark of those years -- so fun. Quite possibly the best passing teams I personally have ever seen in the NBA. Not easy to go out and make other pro teams just look silly night after night the way those squads did. At our peak it was like the Globetrotters vs. the Generals.

The other day I sat and watched about 2 hours of clips of this team. (I went through a box of tissues). They were truly special and no matter how good we are one day, they will always be my favorite team. God I miss them. Thanks Jerry.

I made a similar comment to someone a couple of weeks ago, and they called me nuts. It's true, though.

In fact, one of the reasons I was first drawn to the Kings back then was because I was so amused by the "what just happened?" look that was always on someone's face during replays.

you are welcomed. :) i almost had to reach for the tissues, which is saying something given the graininess of youtube videos.

awesome clip. boy do I miss those days. can't believe how sentimental i get watching stuff like that. yeah and the red hot chili peppers certainly didn't hurt, either.

I had to rewind that vid SEVERAL times, because I kept saying to myself, he didnt just do that, did he? I especially liked when Webber pulled an and 1 when he wrapped the ball around the guy without him knowing it, and then throwing the ball out for a 3 pointer. I also remember watching the game when CWebb got the pass from Bibby and with one hand passed it to Peja for the dunk. There are too many to mention. That was some great moments, thanks.

Watching that made me break out the tissues.

And... looking back, was there anyone else we could have left unprotected in the expansion draft besides Wallace? Damn, I hate the fact that he's gone! :( Great pick by GP... as usual.

And great gaffe for losing him. That was on Geoff too. Bad planning. We gave Peeler an option, he used it to opt out, and we were screwed. We knew the expansion draft was coming up too. It was just very poorly handled.

What was worse... the Wallace fiasco or the Webber trade?

Or is it a tie?

Ramification-wise... it's not even close. From a pure stupidity standpoint, Wallace is worse. We sacrificed him for Anthony Peeler??

It takes a lot of mental energy not to think about Bibby...Artest...Webber... ::drool::

Gerald is a good player on a crap team, but with our current crop of swingmen we just don't have a place for him.

For the record, that video was great... it had a lot of my favorite plays, like Christie-to-Clark in San Antonio when we had the 3 turnover game. And of course Bibby's gamewinner against Finley.

Man, I'd forgotten what a passer J-will was... I had to rewind the one where he does the sleight-of-hand before passing to Webb for the jumper about five times... unbelieveable.

Uh... that probably didn't have anything to do with your comment.

;)

Uh...if it were possible, and its not, you MAKE room for a player that started doing what Gerald did last year.

Wallace 05-06:
34.5min 15.2pts (.538 FG% .280 3pt% .614 FT%) 7.5reb 1.7ast 2.5stl 2.1blk 1.8TO

Kirilenko 05-06:
37.7min 15.3pts (.460 FG% .308 3pt% .699 FT%) 8.0reb 4.3ast 1.5stl 3.2blk 2.9TO

But anyway, water under the bridge. Clearly a ****up, and one of those regrets, but nothing to be done about it now.

Great video! Seen it about 2 months ago, but never gets old. Too bad the quality is pathetic, much like any other video on youtube.
