Okay, same rules. Pick your favorite, write any comments you have about that player, and let me know if you think anyone else should be nominated next time through.

Thanks for participating!

Looks like Reggie Theus is in the hall, does anyone have ANYTHING to say about him other than that he was a big shot and handsome? I was too young to really remember much of him.

As far as Reggie Theus goes, he wore the same number Bobby Jackson sports now and there are a lot of similarities. Theus was an explosive guard, a free-wheeling scoring machine with the added bonus of having excellent passing skills. He was fun to watch and brought a lot of excitement to the team while he was here. He was very active in the community and was an excellent spokesman for the team when they first arrived. He was traded away for a first-round draft pick on Draft Day, 1988. (With that pick, the Kings selected Ricky Berry. Berry played only one year for the Kings. He killed himself in August, 1989.)

I wasn't a basketball fan then, so all I do have to say about him is he's handsome.
Thats how some of these pre adolesent fans choose their favorite players now :)

That's perfect! Can I use that if I quote you?

Nice synopsis, VF.

NoBonus, If you are going to use the quote verbatim, I humbly suggest that you leave out the part in parentheses about Ricky. He may in the future receive a spot in your Kings Fan's Hall of Fame, but I don't think it is necessary to put a a damper on Theus's place.

I was actually going to skip the entire section about the trade. In the past, remembering who we traded a good player for is a bit depressing. I just wish I could get similar summaries on Mitch Richmond, Doug Christie, and Vlade Divac. I wrote some short notes, but they are sub-par at best and do not reflect their careers as Kings well.

I'd help out, but my memory on these subjects is pretty bad. All I can do is sit in the peanut gallery and make comments. :o

Vlade Divac - Vlade was the first player of note to come to the Kings as a free agent. The tall Serb brought more than talent to the Sacramento Kings. He brought a sense of humor and an obvious love of the game that was infectious. He, Jason Williams and Chris Webber were the foundation for what many would call the first Golden Years of the Sacramento-era Kings. He quickly found himself a fan favorite - not only for his talents on the court, including arguably the best passing skills for any center, but also for his work with the community and dedication to his countrymen back home in war-torn Serbia. Vlade Divac meant a lot to a large number of Kings fans and he will always hold a place in their hearts.

That work?

how long was this poll open?

One week. I have another one open now as well... just scroll down a bit in the "Lounge". I have been trying to drum up support for this fun HOF. I need ideas for nominees, summaries of the player's Kings career, and so on.

I see why you are in charge! Perfection! Can I use these on my Blog?

Doug Christie - This wily veteran came to the Kings after stops in Seattle, LA (Lakers), New York and Toronto and quickly found himself right at home. Although his best talent was defense, he was nonetheless someone who commanded respect from opposing guards for his scoring abilities as well. He was a true warrior, who always gave his best. Fans will always remember game 3 in Dallas in the 2002 Western conference play-offs when Doug suffered a sprained right ankle in the third quarter and left the game. When Pedja went down to injury in the fourth quarter, Doug returned to the game and provided an inspiration for the rest of the team, scoring a career play-off high 20 points and leading them to a 125-119 victory. Truly the stuff legends are made of.
