We’d literally have to lose out to even have a change at that pick unless I don’t know the lottery rules and play in teams are automatically ahead of teams that don’t make the play-in
you are correct. We need Pheonix and Dallas to pass us. Pretty hard to do but tonight’s loss helped.

The DDR move for me really killed the team I understood the reasoning behind a guy who could get to the line but you completely killed Keegans growth and relegated him to a 5th option and made the team worse at everything except mid range shooting. The guy gets more post ups than Domas and Jonas combined it's just crazy basketball.

It's crazy how similar in build this Kings team is to the Bulls team after Lonzo went down Monk is Colby White a shoot first tweener, Patrick Williams is Keegan talented athletic but both underachievers ( Keegan a lot better) and Vuc and Sabonis great numbers guys and passers who have questionable D and very suspect come playoffs and Keon is Ayo both guys the team is better with and play great D but get benched.

I was wondering if DeRozan might be half a step slower on defense this late in the season? Since the All-Star break, his defensive rating is 117.3. Only LaRavia is worse, at 119.0 (minimum 15 minutes per game).

Before the All-Star break, DeRozan came in at 113.8, a lot more acceptable. As a team, the defensive rating was 114.3 before the All-Star break (20th). Since then, it has been 116.5 (19th).

Usually, I'd just give this post a "like" and go on. But the first paragraph is spot on and deserves greater recognition for its theme.

Team leaders on defensive rating before the All-Star break were: Ellis (111.4), Murray, Fox, and Lyles, all at 112.5. Since the All-Star break, the leaders have been Sabonis (112.0); Lyles (112.2); and Valančiūnas (113).

Lavine and JV and LaRavia get a pass because they weren’t here but when a group of players quit on a coach like Mike Brown it was a red flag on the players. Others can say that it was the norm with Brown in his career around year 3 but I’ve been saying that at some point this will pop up again. All fun during the honeymoon phase with DC, but that has been over now for awhile and what you got is a team as a collective that doesn’t have what it takes. DC is fine as a coach. I’d say he’s good enough. This group of players? No. It includes Domas in that group

Monk playing horrible but getting the most minutes on the team.

The experiment with Monk starting at the 1 needs to end. Way too chaotic. Wants to be the #1 option.

Really disgusting defense by the usual suspects.
The only logical explanation for Monk's status is that he signed with the Kings at a discount with the understanding that he would be given starter status. Likely a handshake deal with Monte.

Now Coach Christie is saddled with this agreement and cannot even experiment with other options to the starting five. Likely, the only remedy is for Monk to recognize that he is not performing as expected as a point guard (with the team's construction) and he would voluntarily accept some other non-starting role. Somehow, DeRosan appears to be similarly untouchable as a starter as well although his total game does not mesh well with the other starters..

Nevertheless, the same starting lineup is trotted out each game and the results lately have been consistent. Coach Christie seems to make effective in-game adjustments. Perhaps it is appropriate now to make pre-game adjustments if he is permitted to do so..

The team has given up on itself. It's that simple. That, and the fact that the only superior defender in the starting lineup is Murray and that an iso heavy team is going to constantly be faced with getting tough shots instead of easy ones.

These last few games underscores the need to revamp the entire team. I don't want to hear that we need to have another off-season and training camp to know what this team is. We know what this team is.
