6 Things To Know

#3 – Kevin Martin:
You can think Bonzi-Bonzi, but 2nd year stud Kevin Martin is the guy to watch in Sacramento. Kevin hung 19 points a game in the Vegas summer league, and has been working with the coaching staff all summer. Coach Adelman gave Kevin tapes of Rip Hamilton; to study they see him as the next big thing. He's been told to expect more minutes this year.
It's kinda a pleasent surprise to know he's listed as one of the 6 things you need to know the coming season.

Wow, definitely didn't know about the tapes/coaching staff stuff. Nice.

That is gonna be a fierce battle for minutes between him and Garcia. :)

Best news yet. Actually, I knew all this. It is just nice to see it in print elsewhere. ;)

thats cool that people are showing kevin some love.... hopefully our starters wont all be playing 40 minutes a game.... c'mon kevin and francisco....

the thing that worries me is that our bench has no outside shooting....

That is one reason why I think we get one or two more guys, and am still not quite convinced this is going to be our roster as it is now. While I think we have plenty of offense off the bench (it's balanced), there isn't much outside shooting.

He will do well during Bonzi's suspensions...

lol

KMart should get sufficient minutes even in the rare case of Wells being on the court. Bonzi will deff not play more than 40 minutes at the 2-guard, and KM looks like the first guy off the bench at that position, especially if Adelman is wanting him to learn from such a good player as Hamilton.

I'm excited to see what he can do.

I dont know anything about Kevin Martin's game, so im excited as well. Weight isn't an issue for Iverson.

I heard hes altering his shot form which is why hes being coached by the assistants this summer. I heard they are seeing good results. His shooting was a bit erratic in the past but hopefully thats the past.

i think you are thinking of matt barnes

If Matt Barnes becomes the "next big thing" on par with Rip Hamilton, the Kings will be unstoppable. 7 guys on our roster who could start on most NBA teams plus one of the most talented starting 5 around spells contender.

Kevin Martin tends to play better "when the heat is on". You know--like when he's matched up against another good guard.

Duane Causwell was the same way--he always played real well against the premiere centers in the league...of course, that makes sense because he was always one of the Kings top go-to guys.

The article is about Kevin Martin.

Way too much emphasis is being placed on his weight. He is slender and comes from a slender family. He's not going to bulk up unnecessarily. He has put on some muscle and has worked VERY HARD all summer. I think people are going to be very pleased with the results, based on what I've heard from people who have seen him in person.

Good too hear, he pretty much has the same frame as Hamilton who's only 180 pounds but people say he is very strong, was just wondering if he had brought his weight up to the 180-190 mark..

Martin...............................190? LOL

i think they have a plan for francisco at this point to be the back up sf or they just want bonzi for this season and then move franny fresh to back up sg.

Franny Fresh is NOT a name I would associate with a grown man. Sorry, but it sounds pretty demeaning... and something he would never live down.

Just a reminder: NOT every thread about Martin has to be hijacked into something about Cisco Garcia.

Bummer they left out his quote "I've watched that tape so many times, I know when Rip is going to sweat." For some reason, that cracked me up.
